Gautami's POV
Just then I saw my phone buzzing and I looked at it. My sister was calling me. I took the call immediately and she told me that mom was not picking up the call and she was feeling very nauseated.
" Oh, Mom is very busy at the moment
Don't worry, I am coming. " I replied to her.Informing Sri, I turned to go upstairs when Sri held my hand and said, " Wait, Tami!! We can send Siddh to take care of her, you need to be here as you have to perform the cutting of the ribbon ceremony being his sister-in-law. "
" You can do that ceremony, Sri. You are his sister-in-law as well. Tami wanted to call Mom or Chachi as she was feeling uncomfortable due to nausea. She will feel uncomfortable if Siddh goes. I will be back soon. But If I am not back by then, you perform the ceremony. ' I said and rushed from there before she could argue or tell anyone else.
I took solace in the opportunity to get out of the scene. Taking the help of a waiter, I got a glass of orange juice, some tangy fruit chaat, and a platter of her favorite chaat for her to eat, we rushed to her room.
She was standing in the room and looked very uneasy. I asked the waiter to keep everything there and he left after that.
" Here eat whatever you want to, but have this juice. " I gave her the glass and she drank it. After eating she was looking much better.
Amidst the dazzling ambiance, her smile seemed forced, her eyes betraying her and reflecting her state of mind that contrasted sharply with the joyous occasion.
I felt bad for her as I knew that deep down, she harbored a heart heavy with unspoken longing, her love for Shlok overshadowed by the bitter sting of betrayal. Yet, she adorned herself in a facade of happiness, concealing her inner turmoil as Mihir was so much in love with her that she wanted to look happy for him as well as our families, as everyone expected to see a very happy and radiant bride.
But her forced smiles and strained laughter mirrored my own inner conflict, a silent testament to the sacrifices we made in the name of duty and obligation.
" Oh I am sorry, Tami, you missed the ritual of welcoming him as his sister-in-law. " Gaurvi said to me
" It is okay... Sri is there to do, the cutting of the ribbon ceremony. " I replied shaking my head.
" Thanks, I am feeling better now... You can go and see the barat now. " Gauravi said.
" I can see it from the balcony... I can stay here with you or send Roohi di if you want. " I said as I thought that maybe she would feel more comfortable with her friend.
" Okay, send Roohi. " Gauravi replied and I had no option but to go back.
My family must have welcomed Barat in and anytime now they were going to call the Gaurvi for the Jaimala (exchanging garlands).
But amidst the chaos, a sense of foreboding lingered, a whisper of uncertainty that gnawed at the edges of my consciousness. I was reluctant to go and join all of them and watch them getting married and though I didn't want to think about Mihir, I could not help it. So I rushed to my room to compose myself again before going out to join the celebration.
After about 20 minutes, I joined all of them as the hour of the ceremony approached, the air crackled with anticipation, each moment laden with unspoken tension.
Suddenly, the soft strains of music were drowned out by the unmistakable sound of a helicopter descending upon the rooftop, a jarring intrusion upon the meticulously planned festivities. All eyes turned upward in bewilderment, the unexpected arrival casting a shadow of unease over the gathering.
As the doors of the helicopter burst open, a figure emerged, shrouded in mystery and intrigue.
Who could be that?? Was he just another VIP guest both the families were very influential so our guests were also very influential.
But I was too busy to think about all these things as our family was the host of that grand wedding being the bride's family.
We were busy preparing for the next ceremony, varmala.
But just then, I saw my chachu rushing to us and he whispered something to Mom and Dad. They all rushed inside hurriedly.
What happened all of a sudden??
