We both enjoyed a spa and beauty session. Mom got us so many treatments. By the time we came back, it was evening. So Mom and I inspected how the preparation was on. Dad and Mihir also came back and Mom ordered the cook to serve tea for them and some coconut water for me.
"Mihir... " Mom said and raised one of her eyebrows. He got up and got two gift packs and gave them to me.
" For me? " I asked with my eyes wide open.
" No, could you give this to our butler, please? " He said making a face.
" Mihir, I think we raised you better than that. Is that the way to gift something to someone you care for? Haven't we taught you how to give or receive a gift? Haven't you seen how I give a gift to your Mom? " Dad said looking angry. Mom rubbed his arm and asked him to calm down.
" Mihir, you got gifts for your wife for the first time, you chose them for her, now at least give them properly. She is just surprised that you got something for her. Can't you simply smile and say yes or at least nod? " Mom said.
" Sorry, I got them for you. Congratulations on your excellent performance in your exams. " He said with a smile that didn't reach his eyes but I wanted to cry because it was the first time he gave me some gifts. Though I had told him earlier that l didn't want anything from him, I could not refuse to accept them at the moment. I may or may not use them but I would like to see them and keep them with me as a memory.
Smiling, with my eyes getting moist, I accepted them with a polite smile and thank you.
" Mihir go and get ready first, as she will need some time to get ready. " Mom said, he went to our room and came back in less than ten minutes. Just one look at him increased my heartbeat many times.
" Let's go and get ready, Tami." Mom said and we went to our room. I placed both gifts on the bed.

" Would you not open the gifts? At least I am really intrigued to see them. C'mon open them and let me see what he got for you. " Mom said getting excited like a child. I smiled shyly and
hesitated as I reached for the larger box, my heart pounding with a mix of anticipation and trepidation. Slowly, I lifted the lid, revealing a dress wrapped in layers of delicate tissue paper. Carefully, I pulled it out, and a gasp escaped my lips.

The fabric dipped daringly low, exposing her back almost entirely, save for a delicate pattern of lace that crisscrossed in intricate, diamond-like designs. The lace was adorned with tiny, sparkling gemstones that caught the light with every movement, making her look like a star-studded sky.
Mom's eyes widened with admiration. "Wow, Tami! This is stunning. You have to wear it tonight."
" No, mom... I can't wear it. "
" Why not? " She asked.
I swallowed hard, my mind racing. "Mom, it's beautiful, but it's not really my style. It's so... daring."
She smiled gently. "But he got it for you... Maybe Mihir wants you to step out of your comfort zone. Trust me, you'll look amazing."
" No, Mom, please... I don't think so..."
" Then why would he get it for you? Wear it. Open the second one..." She said.
With a mix of reluctance and curiosity, I reached for the second, smaller box. I opened it with trembling hands, revealing an exquisite jewelry set nestled inside. The centerpiece was a necklace, an intricate design of intertwined vines and leaves, crafted from the finest platinum and encrusted with diamonds that glimmered like dewdrops. The matching earrings were delicate teardrops, each holding a single, flawless diamond that sparkled with every tilt of her head.
My eyes welled up with tears. "It's so beautiful, Tami. "
" I can't believe he got this for me."
Mom beamed. "He did, and you deserve it. Now, let's get you ready."
