Mihir's POV
She excused herself and picked up the call, " Hello, it has been declared? How is it?.... Oh, okay, I am coming. Bye, see you there. "
" Mom, they are about to put up the result on the notice board. Please give your blessings. " She got up and touched my parents' feet. They both blessed her with broad smiles.
" I am sure that you would have done very well, and will come out with flying colours. " Mom said.
" Shall we go, I have other things to do as well. " I said and she nodded.
I wanted to tell her to stay away from me and forget about being happily married to me ever in the future, but she seemed to be tense about her result, so I didn't say anything at the moment.
We reached her college and just before she was about to get out of the car, I saw the loose string at her back. And asked her to wait. I tried to tie them tightly without touching her back but my fingers touched her back and she shivered immediately as if she felt something at the mere touch of mine.
It was something new.
As soon as I tied the strings, she got out of the car, took a few deep breaths, and rushed to the noticeboard to check the result but there were so many students standing in front of it that she could not see it.
I kept looking at her and my hand for a few seconds and then wiped my hand as I wanted to erase her touch.
I was getting annoyed as I didn't have the whole day waiting for her to see her result, but could not go to the office leaving here. So I went there and heard her saying, " Excuse me, please, get aside if you have checked your result. I need to check as well. " But nobody moved.
Enough!!
" Excuse me!! " I said in a louder voice and the girls turned to look at me. It was a girls' college and they were not very used to having men in the college.
" Yes, handsome? " One of them said with a flirty smile.
" Please, get a side. " I said with authority, they moved away and I asked Tami to check it. She came to check it but all the girls who had not seen their results till now also rushed to check and in that sudden rush someone pushed her and she lost her balance due to impact and was about to fall, but since I was standing behind her I placed my arm around her to save her from falling. Since everyone was excited to see their results, everyone was in a hurry to get there.
Her body was pressed against me and my arm was around her waist.
" Have you checked the result? " I asked getting annoyed. She was looking for her roll number on the list.
" I can't see my roll no. " She said in a hoarse voice.
" What? Your roll number is not here? That means you could not clear it. " I said. She turned to look at me, her big Black eyes had started getting moist. Something tugged at my heart but I didn't react.
" No, that is not possible. " She was in tears by now.
" Let me check. What is your roll number? " I asked and she told me in a broken voice.
She got aside and looked as if she would start crying any moment. I felt bad for her. I checked her roll number but I could not see it as well.
Just then I heard a familiar voice of a man, I turned to see and was shocked to see Shlok standing there a few feet away from us.
He was here to see the results? Why?
Just then I saw him asking someone for her role and I saw Sagarika beside him.
Oh!! He was here with Sagarika. He checked her roll numbers and they found it immediately. She looked pleased and then he saw another notice and showed it to her as well she jumped with joy as soon as she saw it. They turned to move away and he saw me.
He gave me a faint smile but I was in no mood to see his face.
As soon as Sagrika saw Tami, she rushed to her, "Congratulations !!! " She said hugging her.
" What for?? " Tami asked, looking tense.
For getting married to me, of course, she got married all of a sudden. But she must have met her at Shlok's wedding. Then why was she saying it now?
" Isn't that obvious? "
" What? "
" For your result, what else? Why are you here Today? To see your result right? Where are you lost? " She said.
" But my roll number is not on the list." She said and just then one of her teachers came there. She saw Tami and said, "Congratulations, Gautami! "
"Thank you, ma'am... But my name is not on the list. Ma'am, there must be something wrong with the list.... " She was saying but her teacher cut her sentence short.
" There is nothing wrong with the list..." She said shaking her head.
