Tami's POV

" You have really grown up, my doll. But are you happy in this marriage? " Dad asked. I nodded and told him that everything was fine and the Shah family was showering me with love.

" We know about the Shahs, beta, what about Mihir? " Mom said.

" He is very polite and humble with me. " I didn't look into her eyes as I knew she would read my expressions.

"Are you sure? "

" Yes, mom. "  I said they both exchanged a look with each other as if they were talking silently. Finally, Dad nodded

"Since Mihir isn't here, why don't you stay with us until the wedding?" Dad asked, a warm smile spreading across his face. I couldn't help but smile back, feeling the warmth of my parents' affection embracing me.

"I will call and ask Megha aunty," I offered.

"I will do it," Mom chimed in, her smile mirroring Dad's.

As Mom called Megha Aunty to confirm my stay, I eagerly awaited her response. It came swiftly, filled with warmth that I could, though she and Dad would miss me there.

When Mom handed me the phone, I sensed something special in her gaze, a silent advice to share a moment with Megha Aunty. I went aside and talked to her for a few minutes, Megha Aunty requested my presence at her home the following morning. I assured her that I would be there.

Venturing out to assist Mom with dinner, I offered my help, but she politely declined. Just then, Siddh entered the room, happy to see me, he asked me to spend time with him. Sri echoed his sentiment. Mom assured them of my stay until the wedding, eliciting excitement from both of them.

"Go enjoy yourself with them, and feel free to change into something more comfortable," Mom suggested a gentle nudge towards relaxation.

As we gathered for dinner and pitched in with preparations, Siddh's demeanor caught my attention. Despite conversing with Gaurvi, his demeanor hinted at lingering unease. He confided in me, revealing his inner turmoil regarding the impending wedding.

I urged him to forgive Gaurvi as she did what she felt was right, she was in love with Shlok ji, I tried to convince him offering reassurance that time would heal the wounds.  His concern then turned to me and Mihir's sudden distance, echoing Dad's earlier inquiries. Calmly, I reiterated our situation, earning his understanding and a gentle reminder to savor the wedding festivities.

With everyone immersed in tasks, I found joy in spending time with my loved ones and contributing to the wedding arrangements alongside Mom and Chachi. Though I missed  Mihir. I wish he was also here and attended the wedding as my husband.

The next day I got ready and went to the Shah Mansion, mom and Dad were having breakfast.  She asked me to join them but I declined saying, I already had it.

" Mom, you wanted to say something? " I prompted, sensing an underlying conversation.

"No, your dad and I were missing you. And anyway, you needed to pack a bag for yourself, right?" Mom responded, her tone gentle yet purposeful.

" Oh, but I had a lot of my stuff still there. I could use it, Mom. " She smiled and asked me to come with her. She opened a locker, took out some sets with matching bangles, and gave them to me to pack some jewelry sets that she wanted me to wear during all the functions.

"I understand, but this isn't just about things. You are our daughter-in-law, and people need to see you as such," Mom explained, her words carrying a depth of meaning. With that, she guided me to a locker, revealing sets of jewelry.

"Mom, I already have plenty," I hesitated, feeling a mix of gratitude and discomfort.

"I know Mihir has said something stupid to you and that has affected you, but this is about embracing your role with grace and dignity, you are our daughter-in-law, beta, and people will expect to see you as a representative of our family, it is the first function of your family after your wedding, you need to look like a new bride. As it is Mihir's absence is going to create a lot of gossip. So please pack your bag keeping in mind that you are also our daughter-in-law. Choose the best jewelry and attire meant for the upcoming celebrations." Mom gently reminded me of her embrace offering solace amidst my inner turmoil.
