Tami's POV

The morning passed in a blur of routine checks and quiet conversations. Dad seemed to be improving, and his spirits were high. I stayed busy, making sure he was comfortable and eating well.

"Dad, I applied for the internship here as yesterday was the last day to apply. My internship will start soon," I said, hoping to share some good news.

"That's great, beta. Mihir, you must join back, then you both can work together," Dad said with a smile.

"Dad, I have already resigned. I will work with Shah Jewels," Mihir said.

"But you are such a qualified and excellent neurosurgeon. Why do you want to join the office? You can join the business on paper and work on and off while you can practice here," Dad said.

"I can't work here anymore, Dad."

"Fine! As you wish," Dad shrugged.

Around noon, Parshav popped back in, a mischievous grin on his face. "So, what's for lunch?" he asked. I couldn't help but chuckle at his timing.

"Well, you're just in time. I brought some extra for lunch too," I said, handing him another tiffin.

"You're spoiling me, Tami," he said, opening the tiffin and digging in. "This is amazing. You should open a restaurant."

I blushed again. "I think I'll stick to dietetics, but thanks for the compliment."

"Dr. Rajvanshi, I think you must leave now, as Dad needs rest. I hope you understand that, as you are also a doctor and do understand that taking rest is also important for the patients," Mihir said sarcastically but with a sweet smile.

"Of course! I will take your leave for now, but Tami, please don't forget to make my breakfast tomorrow and I will send you the list of my favorite dishes. Please make them as well," he said.

"Sure, I will," I said with a smile, though I felt a bit awkward.

Why was Mihir being so passive-aggressive?

As Parshav left, Mihir's tension seemed to return. I couldn't help but wonder what was really going on in Mihir's head.

Why was he so upset with Parshav? He was behaving as if he was...

What nonsense!! He doesn't even like me, why would he be jealous? He is just annoyed with me and hence he is annoyed with my friends too.

********

Five days had passed since then and Mihir's dad was feeling better now, but Vikram uncle, insisted he stay under observation a bit longer. Every day, friends and family came to visit him, and I could see how their presence lifted his spirits. He looked happier and less stressed. I spent most of my time experimenting with new, healthier versions of his favorite Gujarati dishes, hoping to make his recovery a bit more enjoyable.

Mihir and I were on the brink of divorce, but Mihir's dad saw the divorce papers, which had led to his massive heart attack. He had made it clear that if we didn't stay married, he would disown Mihir. Since then, Mihir had been behaving nicely towards me, though our relationship remained strained and distant.

Our lives were complicated further by the fact that the hospital belonged to my father and Vikram uncle. But Mihir had left his job as he didn't want any awkward situations, so he chose to avoid them by stepping away.

Today was my first day at the hospital as a new intern dietician. I woke up early to prepare breakfast and lunch for Dad and Mihir. Since I would be working during the day, Mihir insisted on staying at the hospital to keep an eye on Dad.

Despite our complex relationship, his dedication to his father was unwavering. My Dad, told Mihir not to worry and to rest, promising that everyone else would look after him.

We reached the auditorium and I was surprised to see Mihir with his Dad
Uncle, what are you doing here?"

Uncle smiled warmly, his presence always a source of comfort. "I wanted to see you going in on your first day, beta. It's a big moment for you."

Mihir nodded. "Dad insisted on coming. He said it was important for him to be here."

I sighed but couldn't help smiling. "Okay, but make sure you rest after this. " I said to Dad.

He chuckled. "Don't worry about me. Today is about you." I hugged him and he wished me luck. Vikram's uncle saw him and asked Mihir to take him back to his room.
