The one who caused food poisoning actually wanted to create a rift between Tulsipur and Krishnanagar, thereby breaking my alliance with Bondita. This stupid plan of theirs set me laughing. They tried to outsmart a barrister who very well knows how to turn the tables in his favour.
Heaving a sigh of temporary relief, I walked towards the big photo of Bondita that hung on one of the walls of my bedroom.
"When can I hold you close to my heart for eternity?", I asked with a feeling of unease gripping my heart.
Although I knew the upcoming days would definitely bring positive changes in our lives, the separation was getting unbearable. Ever since I discovered the mutual love we had for one another, every moment of her absence felt like an eternity. I always want to keep her close to my heart; so close that even air finds it difficult to pass in between us.
The telephone ring broke my trail of thoughts making me smile inadvertently. I did guess who the potential intruder is and rushed to pick up the call only to meet with silence. I was a little surprised but imagining the probable reason for her silence excited me.
Somehow, I associated her silence with the goodbye moment we shared in our office that evening. She was perhaps shy to start a conversation, I thought. We are a pair of timid people when it comes to romance. Nevertheless, I am the bolder one.
These little things of love are very new for us and it might take a lot of time to not feel special about every small romantic encounter.
Then again, why should we not feel special each and every time? I want both of us to always feel the same excitement even in our old age; like a newlywed couple.
With all these thoughts running in my head, I didn't realise that I was quiet. Unable to hear anything from my end, she cut the call much to my dismay. I was disappointed until I heard the ring again after a minute.
This time too she didn't say anything but made her bangles clink, giving a hint that it was her, as if I didn't recognise. Bondita will only keep quiet when she is shy. If it is so, then Anirudh knows how to make her talk.
"Bondita, what are the bangles trying to say? It's not that they miss me, is it? Tell them, in our next meeting I will surely play with them."
A little gasp escaped from her mouth causing my pulse to flutter. Her response to my teasing was very titillating that I didn't want to stop this long distance romance or get out of the intoxicating feel it gave.
Since silence still prevailed at the other end except for the sound of her ragged breathing, I went on to speak without an ounce of restraint,
"Oh, so it is not the bangles I see, but the hands that carry them are the ones that are actually pinning for me. Am I right?" "This time I will hold them so tight until eternity, not giving the slightest chance to miss."
A slight moan escaped from her mouth spontaneously. I found it very delightful, the way she felt me so close to her even in this long distance communication, just like I felt her presence around me. We are on the same plane.
I wanted to see for how long she can keep quiet without speaking or taking my name.
"What happened, sweetheart?", I asked, pushing the conversation further. "Is it not your hands too? Okay, then it must be your cheeks. I suppose they are wishing for my touch."
She struggled to utter anything except, "Ah...mmm.."
She gets too intimidated whenever I make romantic advances and this is the only time I enjoy doing that to her, subjecting her to sweet torment.
