The preparations for housewarming were going on in full swing when I returned from the police station after getting an FIR filed against Mr. Banerjee. I even made sure to inform the police about the celebration at my new home in Krishnanagar and the probability of finding Mr. Banerjee there, in case they couldn't find him at his place; since I had invited the whole of Tulsipur.
The next task at hand was to give the news of the culprit to all those who needed to know and make them confess for badmouthing Bondita. Besides, I had to enlighten thakuma about her favourite grandson-in-law and his passive involvement in the scandal.
On the pretext of inviting the Das family to our housewarming function, I gathered my entire family in their house and collectively narrated the whole story, barring Chandrachur's part. I didn't want to reveal his intentions for Bondita in front of my family as that can lead to unnecessary awkwardness in relationships, if at all we have to see Chandrachur and Tupur frequently in future. As much as I wanted Tupur and the Das family to get rid of him, I know it's not going to be easy; given the traditional mindsets they had.
The truth shocked and angered everyone except my love who stood farther from all of us, in a corner, leaning against a pillar. The displeasure on her face was evident, not due to the revelation of truth, but because of our argument that morning about punishing the villagers. On one side I was fighting with the world for her sake and here she was frowning at me for those villagers who never left a stone unturned to insult her.
Whatsoever, this is the speciality of my Bondita. She has patience equal to that of Mother Earth who possibly forgives every sin committed by the human race. This very nature of hers makes me adamant on teaching a lesson to those who wronged her. I had decided to show her greatness to the world. For which, I knew I had to push her anger beyond limits.
Eventually after exchanging comments and remarks of disdain about the Banerjees, my family took leave, while I remained there.
"There's something more to this issue that you all need to know, thakuma", I began, piquing the interest of the Das ladies.
"What is it, Anirudh babu?", she asked, curiosity written all over her face, while Sumati ma and her daughters keenly paid attention to what I was about to tell.
I felt awkward to utter the malice of Chandrachur's mind with my mouth; that too, in front of his wife and my wife. However, there was no other way left. They need to know his real character behind the good facade. I had to brush away my unease to give out his true colours.
"This piece of information might be incredible but it is what it is.", I started, "Chandrachur is also passively responsible for this scandal. He has his eyes on Bondita ever since he saw her...", and told the whole thing.
Sumati ma and thakuma were aghast. They exchanged scornful looks before casting their eyes on Tupur who by then began to shed tears. A concerned Tapur immediately rushed to her sister and tried to comfort her by rubbing her back lovingly while Bondita and I pathetically glanced at them.
"Tu..Tupur..", thakuma managed to call her aggrieved granddaughter and asked if she has any idea of her husband's ill activities. Much to the shock of the crowd, Tupur slightly nodded her head approving of her knowledge about Chandrachur's deeds.
"I tried to put sense into his head several times but in vain. Bondita's beauty has captured his heart to an extent that he was ready to abandon me and our four years of relationship.", Tupur sobbed between her speech. "I began to detest Bondita for this. Had she not arrived in Krishnanagar, my husband shouldn't have met her. This is the reason I never spoke to her properly, even though she tried many times."
