"So you're not in love with me?"

Y/N POV:

"Have a nice day," a man said as he gave the key to Jonathan. We three glared at him, then entered the car. I sat in the passenger seat, Nancy in the back, and Jonathan started the car as we glanced at each other.

After some distance, Nancy opened the bag and played the tape.

"Doesn't really matter. The point is, mistakes have been made. Yes," we heard.

"Mistakes?" Nancy forwarded the tape.

"The men involved with those mistakes, the ones responsible for what happened to your brother and Miss Holland's death, they're gone..." Nancy rewound the tape.

"The ones responsible for what happened to your brother and Miss Holland's death, they're gone."

"You still wanna do this?" Jonathan asked, glancing between us.

"Let's burn that lab to the ground," Nancy said, determined.

"Be safe, you two," I said to Nancy and Jonathan. They smiled at me before Jonathan drove off. Sensing a strange presence, I took a deep breath before entering my house.

As I closed the door make sure to lock it, I called out, "Hello? Mom? Dad? Anyone home?" There was no response.

I went to the kitchen for a drink and saw a note written for me.

"Went to Byers' home. Come if you want. - Your lovable family"

I decided to head there after a refreshing shower.

Then, As I finished my shower and wrapped myself in a towel, I stepped out of the bathroom, feeling relaxed and at ease. But as I turned towards the window, I froze in shock. I saw Steve, his eyes wide with surprise, clumsily climbing through the window into the room.

I let out a startled scream, my heart pounding in my chest, as Steve's own voice joined mine in a chorus of shock.

"Steve, you scared the life out of me!" I exclaimed, feeling a rush of relief.

"S-s-sorry," he stuttered nervously, his eyes darting around, lingering where they shouldn't.

"Steve, my eyes are up here," I said firmly, giving him a pointed look.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," Steve apologized again, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "I've been trying to reach you all day. You didn't come to school, and you didn't pick up any of my calls. I got worried, so I came over to check on you."
