The silver digs into my wrists as I try to move my arms around in the damp cinderblock room I'm in. There's a lightbult in the ceiling that lights up every inch of the room, but it highlights the bars that my chains are locked to.
There's dried blood in my hair and a meesely white shirt to cover my bruised body.
I wince as I try to sit up a little straighter, my broken ribs protesting at every movement. The rattling of the chains is what really irks me. It's loud all it does it remind me of my captivity.
I'll never get away.
There's the faint noise of a door opening and closing and then the patter of a few sets of feet stomping down the stairs.
I don't have to look up to know that its Marco and a two of his closest friends. They come down here so often you would think they might just set up camp.
It's all a reminder to me though–I am there for their pleasure. They own me. I go where they say I go; I do what they tell me to do.
"Are you ready baby?" Marco says, his voice a musky drawl as the sound of belt buckles rings in the empty room. I already know what comes next but it doesn't make it any easier.
Inside, I'm crying, my soul breaking in two, but on the outside, I am a mask. This wont break me. It can't. I'm already too far gone.
...
I startle awake, the cool feel on my wrists the first indication that something isn't right. That is enough to drag my fight or flight response into overdrive. I shoot my head up taking in as much as my eyes will let me.
"No, no, no, no." The words tumble out of my mouth as my breathing gets faster and faster. I'm there–Im back there in that cell in his house. I'm alone and am never getting away.
No. I got away, I got away as soon as I was able to and never looked back. This is different. You aren't with him. He can't get you.
Oddly enough that's all it takes me to clam down. The fact that im chained up in a basement doesn't scare me at all now that I know I'm not with Marco. Nothing is worse than that not even death.
The sound of steps echo down the stairs, and when I look up I'm met with familiar faces. Silver and Kai.
"Oh good, you're here!" I say standing up and glaring at them, "What the actual fuck!" I yell.
Kai seems amussed, but Silver is looking like he wants to strangle me, then bring me back to life to do it again.
"You show up to our club, talking about bounties, and out of coincidence someone tries to take Maverick out as soon as you leave the room. Sounds like a set up to me." He says, his voice cold.
"I was warning you! He just contacted me today I didn't think he'd contact anyone else, I'm normally a single hire!" I scream.
"And what exactly do they 'hire' you for? We don't even know your name." Silver grunts, while kai just stands back looking at me with curiosity.
Ok. I have two options here. I give them my real name and real person and I have to deal with all that fallout of having my normal persona become tainted, or I tell them I'm Ghost and ruin all my anonymity but trust that my background will get them to understand.
I curse under my breath, "Casey you owe me bigtime." i straighten my back and look Silver dead in the eyes. "I'm Ghost."
Silver takes a sharp intake of breath and Kai's lip part in surprise. I'm pretty well known in our community. I get my job done, and never get caught. It's always a perfect kill. So for Ghost, a five foot eight girl, to show up and warn them off of an assassin is a big turn of events.
