I want to promise Lilah something. I want to tell her that everything is going to be alright. I want to promise her that I will love her until my dying breath. I want to promise her Marco's head on a platter. I want to promise her that I'll give her the life she always wanted.

In the end I can't bring myself to say anything to her because they're just words. I can tell that the look in my eyes confused her. She wanted to ask what I was thinking about, but she didn't.

Was she afraid of what I would say?

In truth, I can't promise Lilah anything, no matter how badly I want to.

Hearing her on the phone with Marco tested my patience in a way it had never been tested before. The things he said, the things she said.

It angered me so much that I hand to hold my breath so I didn't tear apart the house. Even now that it's been hours since the call, I can't bring myself to calm down. Killing that bastard will bring me a sick satisfaction, but it won't be enough. It will never be enough.

I want to massacre everyone that associates with him. I want every man that has seen Lilah act the way she acted on the phone to be burnt alive. I want the heads of any man that dared to hurt her.

I think my brothers want that to and the only thing holding us back is Lilah. She has told us time and time again that yes, there are men in his organization that are ruthless terrible people that don't deserve to live, but there are also scared men and kids that are only there to protect themselves and their families.

She still has a heart, and if not for her, they'd already be dead by now. I saw the same anger when she said those words on Dame and Onyx's face, but surprisingly, Mav just nodded, simply understanding her.

The rescue mission for Lilah changed him. He walked into that cabin hating Marco and his men, but when he left? He had an almost somber look at the house.

Almost like it contained more than just one prisoner.

I'd like to think that's a farce, but Mav doesn't play around.

"Are you all strapped?" Onyx asks for the fifth time, tightening Lilahs holster across her chest even as she rolls her eyes at him.

I want to back her and tell my brothers that she's done this many times before, but I can't bring myself to say anything. If anything, I think I want to check her over once more before we leave.

Nothing can happen to her.

My brothers nod in Nyx's direction, there eyes all hyperfocused on Lilah as she laces up her boots and tucks her knives and daggers in various places across her body.

Seeing Lilah dressed to murder makes my cock strain against my pants. The thought of her covered in Marco's blood tonight does something funny to my insides. I wonder if she would let me fuck her in his blood. Maybe in front of his body.

"Let's go." Mav commands as he rounds the garage and hops into the drivers seat of the car.

No one speaks as we all get into the car, my hand finding it's way to Lilah's back as she climbs into the backseat with Dame and I.

"So," I say, breaking the silence, "what type of music are we going for?"

Lilah snorts from behind me, a smile finally peaking it's way onto her face as she shakes her head.
