"The trouble with the future is that it usually arrives before we're ready for it."  Arnold H. Glasow

As we approach the grand entrance of the banquet, my heart quickens with anticipation. When we get closer, the venue's exterior comes into full view, and it is a sight to behold.

The castle-like building is nestled within a beautifully landscaped garden. A grand, sweeping staircase leads up to large double doors made of rich mahogany and adorned with intricately carved designs. The doors are framed by large pillars, and it feels like I am walking into a place of royalty.

I walk next to Harry, trying to get the dynamic between us right for anyone watching. As far as Aaron and Elias know, I am about to betray him and all of my friends. They told me to act normal with them tonight so I don't give away my betrayal when it's really them that I am betraying.

We reach the entrance way too quickly, and we pause for security to check us for any concealed weapons. When we are cleared, we step inside the place and cross the threshold, beginning our mission.

The smell hits me instantly, filling my nostrils with a nice aroma of fresh flowers. My ears are simultaneously filled with the soft sound of classical music, giving the place an enchanting atmosphere.

My eyes are immediately drawn to the breathtaking décor and architecture around me. Crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling, casting a nice, shimmering glow over the room. The walls are decorated with fine art, with each wall having a different canvas on display.

I follow Harry out of the reception area and into the main room, which is even more incredible to look at. The banquet tables are circular and evenly spread throughout the large area. The tables are set with expensive looking dishware, and it makes me wonder how much money they spent on those alone.

There are people wandering around the room, everyone dressed in elegant attire. Women wear the most gorgeous gowns that I have ever seen, and men wear well-tailored suits and tuxedos. Light chatter fills the air as everyone mingles, their voices adding to the sound of the music.

I see the quartet in the far corner of the room, my eyes pinpointing the source of the music. There's a stage on that side of the room too, and I know that's where Elias is planning on giving his speech. Men, armed with large guns, line the room, meticulously scanning the area for any sign of threat. I hope Lucas's men are mixed in with them.

It feels like I have stepped into a fairytale, when I have really stepped into a nightmare.

I say, "This place is beautiful."

"You're beautiful," he says back, making my cheeks flush.

I follow him around the room and stand next to him as he makes conversation with some of the men here. I stand silently by his side, none of them addressing me, which is rude, but in this instance, I'm thankful for it. I don't have it in me to talk to any of these people.

I feel like I am going to throw up all over the floor, which is so clean that I can see my reflection on the tiles when I look down at it. I force myself to keep a smile on my face and look composed. I don't want to draw any unnecessary attention to us.

I feel safe walking around with Harry. I'm not ready for the plan to start because I'll have to leave him, and that terrifies me. I know I have a job to do tonight, but I wish I could stay by his side. Being separated from him is one of the worst parts of this plan.

"I hate classical music," Harry grumbles randomly.

I laugh, "Really?"

"It's fucking awful, it makes me feel like my ears are bleeding," he says dramatically.
