Diana's POV
Closing my eyes in despair and grief, while holding my mother's hand. She smiles at me weakly, and says: "I love you my child".
The machine made a long beep and her eyes were shut in an instant."Mom? Mooooooommmm!!!!!" I cried out, the doctor was alarmed and he came running into the ward. He did some test and removed his stethoscope slowly while looking down at his feet. My heart raced, dreading his diagnosis. I had a really bad feeling and I was restless. The doctor looked at me and dropped the ticking bomb, "I'm sorry but we lost her". Wide eyes, tears flooding my face, and my heart skipping its beats.
I refused to believe what the doctor said, "No! Mom, mom you can't do this to me! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME LIKE THIS!" I screamed, tapping her cheeks to wake her up. "Mother you can't betray me like this! You promised mo-m.. You promised!!! Arrrrrrrrrghhhhh!!!!" The nurses held me back trying to calm me down, but I lost my mind. I went mad!
"YOU BETRAYED ME MOTHER!!!! How can you leave me like thisss!!! After all the promises!! After swearing to be by each other's sides always! After vowing to never leave me! MOM!!! Wake UP!!!"
I struggled to be free from those nurses' grasp, "Let me GO!". Unfortunately, I couldn't break free. The doctor covered her face with a white cloth, and I went bananas! "SHE'S NOT DEAD!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. Everyone stared at me in pity, and I didn't want any of their sympathy because I knew mother wouldn't just leave me like this.
"Take the body away". The doctor ordered.
"NO! SHE'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE!"
"Please control yourself. I understand the pain you must be going through, but it's better you accept the truth".
"JUST SHUT UP! MY MOTHER ISN'T DEAD!"
They all ignored me and took mother away, while I protested in tears..
I gave Hannah a call immediately and she heard me crying over the phone. In less than thirty minutes, she arrived and I ran to her immediately. She embraced me in tears, "Everything will be fine Dia"."N-no-" I muttered.
"It's okay Dia. I called your family and told them about this".
"You shouldn't have done that, they aren't my family! They haven't really acted like one-"
"Oh really? So this is how you go around bad mouthing us" A voice chimed in, interrupting me; I took one look at the person and rolled my eyes in anger. It was Grandma.
She came with Aunt Kathy and Elder Okie. Ted didn't come, not like I expected him to be here anyway."Finally, that curse is out of our lives, for good!" Aunt Kathy spat. I glared at her in anger, and attacked her. Hannah pulled me back, "Dia control yourself".
Aunt Kathy breathed heavily, holding her chest in relief. "You bastard!" she yelled, "You dare to raise your hand to me you bloody BASTARD!"
"Call me anything you want, I clearly don't give a fvck! Keep in mind, that if you ever speak ill of my mother again, I'll rip your hair out! I SWEAR!" I yelled back at her in full rage, while Hannah held me back.
"I've TOLERATED you all for so long! YOU ALL TREATED MY MOTHER LIKE TRASH! Why are you even here?! GET LOST, ALL OF YOU!""Control yourself you mad girl!" Grandma shouted, "You should thank your stars that we came here! Do you think we care? Sama has been nothing but a curse, and that curse has finally been broken! We should be at home celebrating, but instead we came here to check on you and this is how you treat us!"
"THEN JUST GET THE FVCK OUTTA HERE! I DON'T NEED EITHER OF YOU HERE, GET OUT! I SAID LEAVEEEE!!!"
"I request you all lower your voices, you are in a hospital" A nurse said.
"Fine! We will leave!" Grandma said.
"THEN WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? LEAVE!!!" I yelled, pointing to the exit.
"Mad girl!" Aunt Kathy insulted, before leaving with her grumpy husband and grandma followed them.
I collapsed on a bench in tears, while Hannah consoled me to stay strong.
"Dia, you need to fight. And also, you shouldn't have spoken to your family like that"."They all deserved it!"
"But Dia, now that your mom is no more, you are now their responsibility-"
"Just stop. I want to be left alone".
"I understand" She sighed and stood up to leave.
After she left, I went to the mortuary to see mother again. She looked so peaceful for the first time. Mother never got respect nor peace; her dreams were also shattered, because she got pregnant for me. She had to quit everything inorder to take care of me, with no assistance. I honestly hate so many people now; Grandma, Aunt Kathy, My father and that SAMMY! I cried so much, wondering how life could be so cruel to me. Why is life so unfair? Why do the good people have to suffer? Why do good things never last? Why do the bad people always succeed? Once again, life has made a mockery of me. How wonderful!
I hugged mother tightly, and poured my heart out in pain. A nurse came in and said it was 10:30 PM, so they had to lock up. I didn't realize how fast time flew. I nodded in affirmation and wiped away my tears. I left the hospital and it started raining. I didn't even mind getting drenched, I just kept strolling home in agony, still trying to accept that mother is no more. Her sudden demise is really a shock to me and I feel heartbroken. "My birthday is now a curse to me! I lost my mother on my birthday, I'm the reason for her death. I'M JINXED!" I cried to myself.
I looked around, and realized I had already reached the house. On arriving home, I saw my clothes littered all over the compound.Word count: 1,017
