WARNING: SENSITIVE CHAPTER
Diana's POV
"Don't worry about the soup dear, I don't want to stress you. Water will do" Grandma Kiran said in-between coughs.
"No granny, don't say that. You're not stressing me at all. Wait here, I'll go prepare your soup" I headed for the door.
"No dear, don't worry. Just get me some water from that jar over there" She pointed to a desk, where a jar of water and glass cup were placed. I walked over to the desk and poured a glass of water for grandma kiran, then I handed it over to her. She gulped it down and exhaled in relief. "I don't know what I'll do without you" she smiled at me, opening her arms to embrace me. I bent over immediately and hugged her.
"FIRE!!!!" Someone yelled out, her voice echoed through the mansion.
"Did someone just say fire?" In turmoil, I rushed out of grandma Kiran's room and headed downstairs.
The kitchen was on fire and one of the servants kept yelling inorder to alert everyone."Someone help!!"
Just then, Sammy came running "Where's the fire?"
"In there! Someone is in there"
"Oh my goodness, there's a fire!" Aunt Flora arrived downstairs and screamed.
Sammy quickly ran to the basement and came back with an extinguisher. He sprayed the extinguisher all over the kitchen to quench the fire. The kitchen was a mess and there was someone lying on the ground unconscious. Sammy bent down to take a look at the unconscious person.
"Margaret?" He called out confusingly. Margaret is one of the maids here, and she was burnt in the fire. Aunt Flora quickly called the ambulance and she was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, she didn't make it. Aunt Flora kept making phone calls, informing Margaret's family members about Margaret's demise. They cursed the Oberoi's over the phone and threatened to sue them for their daughter's death. Aunt Flora apologized one last time before hanging up.
Everyone was silent, and Aunt Flora felt guilty.
"What caused the fire?" Sammy asked casually."Er, it--probably jus-just happened" Selena stammered and scratched the back of her right ear restlessly. I peered at her suspiciously.
Why was she acting guilty? What would she gain by starting a fire and killing a maid?
Sammy stood up abruptly and went straight to the kitchen to examine the area. Suddenly, he called out to us and we all went into the kitchen.
"The pipe was cut" he showed us.
"How did that happen?" I asked in astonishment.
"Oh Lord!" Aunt Flora exclaimed, "How did the gas pipe loose? I asked Margaret to make me a cup of coffee, I didn't know this would happen".
