what did they think?

Taylor looks in the mirror, her hair falling down in soft waves around her shoulders. Her dress is simple and timeless, made of a white Mikado with sleeves falling off-the-shoulder and a sweetheart neckline. A full skirt with a little train falls down to the ground around her, but her white shoes, embedded with Swarovski crystal detailing, are exposed by a slit in the skirt that trails all the way up to her upper thigh. She can't help but smile, surrounded by so many of the most important people in her life. It's the day she's been dreaming of since she was only a little girl.

"You look so beautiful," Andrea says, wiping a tear out of her eye. "I can't believe that my baby girl is getting married."

Taylor turns to face her mother. "I'm so happy, Mom. I can't wait."

"I know." The older woman gives her daughter a soft smile. "I'm really happy for you, too."

Blake, Taylor's maid of honor, smiles at her friend, smoothing out Taylor's skirt. "You look beautiful. Is there anything else that you need?"

Taylor pauses for a moment, silently looking herself over and scanning her body, knowing they're down to the final few minutes. There's not long now before the woman and her bridal party are going to be heading down to the hotel's ballroom, where it's finally going to be happening. She's finally going to marry Travis Kelce.

It feels like she's been waiting for this day for an eternity.

"Could you grab my water for me?" Taylor asks. "Purple Stanley Cup on the kitchenette counter."

Blake nods, disappearing around the corner of the hotel suite. She is just so thrilled for her best friend, and knows that Taylor has found a perfect match in a man. She wouldn't have ever predicted that Taylor's person would be a football player, but it is, and god, that man loves her so much. He's absolutely redefined the meaning of love in Taylor's book. Blake smiles to herself, thinking back to two years ago, when Taylor, hidden behind a blush of bright pink, had admitted that she was falling in love. It wasn't the first time she'd said those words to Blake, but this time, it had felt different.

Blake and Ryan knew all along. Taylor had told them she'd been dating someone, probably only a week or so after Taylor and Travis had made it all official. They hadn't thought too much of it until she'd shown up at the first football game. Ryan had been sitting in front of the TV, relaxing on his day off, when he called Blake into the family room. "Taylor's at the game," he said, pointing at the screen. Sure enough, there she was- blonde hair straight, a red windbreaker covering her shoulders. That had been a pretty telling sign that things were serious, and it was quite confirmed a few days later, when the singer had invited them both to a football game.

"It'll be pretty chill," she had told them over the phone. "Trav said I could invite any of my friends that I wanted. I want to introduce him to the important people in my life, because I've already met everyone in his." Blake and Ryan had known she'd spent a lot of time in Kansas City lately, so they'd figured it was only a matter of time before they would get to meet this man who had seemingly stolen Taylor's heart in only a few short weeks. Of course, they'd eagerly accepted Taylor's offer, and that's how Blake and Ryan had ended up at Metlife Stadium on a warm afternoon in October.

Taylor had looked gorgeous, in some blinged-out denim shorts and a black long-sleeved shirt. Blake and Ryan had had a good giggle whilst getting ready, thinking that you don't typically dress up for a football game, but they're not in the stands today. Being the guest of a player, sitting up in one of the suites, seemed to be a bit of a fashion show. The whole afternoon had been so much fun. Taylor had eagerly pointed out Travis, down on the field.

Brittany had come into the suite that day, introducing herself to all of Taylor's friends and hanging out for a little bit. Taylor looked so natural, interacting with her and all of the other wives and girlfriends of the players. She was still learning the ins and outs of the game, but it was so clear to Blake that all of the other women adored Taylor and they were more than happy to help her out if she didn't understand what was going on. It seemed like such a family, which was exactly what Taylor needed. To be a part of something bigger than herself. A group of people who didn't see her as a global icon, but just as another girl. It had surprised Blake, really, just how down to earth all of the women who were affiliated with the Chiefs were. It was a perfect place for Taylor to be.
