hello hello! just wanted to talk to you all for a quick second before we get on with this one shot (which is one of my favorites i've written!)

so by the time you'll all be reading this, i'll be on a plane with a one way ticket, making *the big move* to a whole other continent which is... whoa. i've got a lot of feelings about it, but i've wanted to do this for a very long time and it's finally the right time for me. thing is, with this comes a new chapter of my life and i really do not know what it's going to look like. i will still be writing, 100%, but especially as i've been working on writing longer pieces as of late, if the updates aren't as frequent, that's why!

moral of the story: do not worry about me, i'm going to be just fine! i'm really looking forward to some new adventures,  and i'm really looking forward to lots of taylor- both in life and in my imagination, which i am so honored to get to share with all of you <3

now, that's enough yapping for today! i hope you all love this one shot as much as i do!

Being in London for a few days, for the first time since breaking up with Joe, allows for memories to come flooding back to Taylor. All sorts of memories- some good, some bad. There are moments from that relationship that she'd never want to relive, but there are also things that she still holds dear. After all, Taylor spent six years of her life in London. She'd be crazy to not acknowledge the fact that there most certainly was some good in it. There was light and happiness and laughter and a time where Joe really was the one for her. She outgrew him, but not with malice. No, he just woke up one day, looked at her, and realized that the woman beside him in the bed was no longer the woman he fell in love with, the woman who was right for him.

She didn't regret the time that she spent with him. Yet, she was proud of herself for all of the growth that she had accomplished, allowing her to be somebody who was no longer the perfect match for Joe Alwyn. Nowadays, she stands a little straighter. She's more confident in herself and her instincts. She loves the new life that she's adopted and is thrilled to be back in her home country, closer to her family and friends. Still, over the time that she spent here, she fell in love with London. The city will always have real estate in her heart.

She has a favorite tea shop in London, loves to snack on Squashies and Tangfastics. Taylor knows her favorite walking paths tucked away in Hampstead Heath by heart. She gets her groceries delivered from Waitrose but prefers to pick up a meal deal at Tesco before a picnic in the park. Above all, one of the most special things about the whole city, is the friendship that she formed with her neighbor, Evie.

Evie and her husband Joshua moved into the house next door to Taylor's only a few months after she'd purchased her own home, when it became clear that she was going to be making London her home base and things were getting serious with Joe. Evie and Joshua had two children at the time- Harrison, a boy who was three, and Iris, a girl who was just a newborn. During the days, Joshua would go to work and Evie stayed home. Taylor could see them in their garden through her kitchen window. She'd watch Harrison run and play, as Evie would sit on the patio with Iris in her arms. It hadn't been too long before Taylor had made up a batch of cinnamon rolls and taken them over with a bouquet of flowers to introduce herself and welcome them to their new home.

Evie, though initially shocked at her neighbor's identity, had quickly become Taylor's rock. Nearly every day, Taylor would go over and help her around the house, hold Iris while Evie would shower, and just provide some adult conversation. Joshua had a wonderful job as the lead heart surgeon at a famous hospital in London, but that meant that he worked many long hours. During a time where Taylor couldn't bring herself to show her face in public, the two women seemed to be a match made in heaven.
