wow, thank you all so much for the well wishes on my last chapter. wanted to check in and let you all know that i'm settled here and very excited and happy. i've got a best friend who i met on instagram many years ago because of our shared love of taylor swift and musical theatre, and i've been an ocean away from her forever, but now, it's only an hour's drive, so spending time with her has been the best ever. i'm on a student visa and my things for that begin tomorrow- so naturally i got a bit of writing in tonight! for everyone asking, i will definitely do a part 2 to my last one shot, but for now, this is just a short and sweet bit of fluff for a quick smile tonight <3 love love love!

Tuesdays in September are rarely significant. They're just another day, where one goes about their normal routine. You don't go out for dinner, you don't throw or attend a party. Nothing exciting ever happens on a Tuesday.
But this year, Travis's first game of the season falls on a Thursday. That means he's spending Wednesday night in the hotel, which makes Taylor and Travis's last night together before the game on a Tuesday. So just once, a Tuesday is a big deal.
Taylor spends the afternoon preparing him a creamy chicken and gnocchi dish for dinner, which they eat early. She's got a pie prepared in the fridge, and all that it needs to do is go in the oven, but first, they want to go out for a drive.
Driving around the country roads outside of Kansas City has become one of Taylor and Travis's favorite things to do together. They take out Travis's convertible, the top down as soon as they're out of town. The evening breeze passes along their cheeks, the taste of freedom lingers on their lips. It's one of the few activities that can be truly limitless for the two of them. It's just Taylor, Travis, and the songs that Taylor queues up.
She always gets to be the one to queue the music. The way that she sees it, her job isn't just to make music. It's to be incredibly aware of the music that everyone around her is making as well. She prides herself on just how many songs she knows- an amount that always astounds Travis, as the matter of fact. She always knows how to curate a playlist for whatever is going on. Old music, new music, slow music, upbeat music. Every imaginable genre. No matter what, it lives both in her brain and her Spotify downloads.
Tonight, MUNA's 'The One That Got Away' is blasting through the car speakers as they drive along. Taylor's scrolling through the CarPlay, looking for the next song, when a text comes through on the screen. Travis's eyes drift over at the movement.
"Why's Ky texting you?" Travis asks.
Taylor chuckles. "Hey, we text," she winks. "We mostly complain about our Kelce men and how fucking annoying they are." She pokes his side, both of them sharing a laugh. "Honestly, I don't know." She picks up her phone from the center console and looks at the notification. The words on the screen make her smile, so she reads them aloud. "Hey Tay. Quick question. If the answer is no, tell me and there's no hard feelings! I'm picking back up with field hockey coaching tomorrow. I took last season off to be more present with Jason for his last football season, but I decided it was time to go back. So, it's my first season since you and Trav have been together. I know the girls are going to be asking me about you. I can totally just say that you're lovely and that I had a great time at your concert this summer, but I think they'd love to hear about the time that I tried to teach you some field hockey on Easter. Would it be alright to tell them that? I know it was just a sweet family moment, but I need to make these sixteen-year-olds think I'm cool. They've got to respect me for this team to work, you know?"
Travis grins over at Taylor. "You gonna let her?"
"Totally," Taylor nods. "I'm proud to be part of your family. If those kids want to go sell that to the press, then let them. It's better than any of the rumors that the tabloids will start on their own accord."
