"Hey," Taylor smiles, cup of coffee in hand as she joins Travis on the sofa in the morning. She sits down beside him and nestles her head into his neck, just below his chin. She fits in so perfectly, as though their bodies were made to be together.

"Hey you," Travis replies, eagerly accepting the woman into his arms. "Happy birthday, sweet girl." His heart bursts at the sight in front of him, her hair still messy and sleep still in her eyes. A silky nightgown hangs loosely off her shoulders, and she looks absolutely beautiful.

"Mmm, I didn't like waking up without you beside me." Her voice is still laced with sleepiness, but that's Travis's favorite way to see her. He loves the intimacy of these moments, when he knows he's the only one who will ever get to see her this way. She makes a pouty face up at him, furrowing her eyebrows and pursing her lips, but he knows there's no hard feelings. Still, Travis feels bad.

"I know, baby. I'm sorry, I had to get some strength training in and I figured that the best time to do it would be before you woke up so that I can come straight home from practice today and we can celebrate. And when I was done and showered, I didn't want to come back into the room and risk waking you up. You deserve to sleep as late as you want on your birthday, and that shouldn't change just because the asshole you're dating has to get up before the sun." He rubs her upper arm as she giggles a little bit. "How are you feeling? Still sore?"

It's only been a few short days since Taylor flew back from Vancouver, and it's been like her body just held out for two whole years before dumping all of the soreness onto her once it was over. Sure, every now and then she could feel the fact that she'd done three days of shows in a row, but it was nowhere near as bad as it is now. Travis wonders if she's just finally letting herself feel the pain of it all. She's downed a lot of ibuprofen since being back in Kansas City, but luckily for her, her sweet boyfriend would do anything for her, and his massages soothe her muscles. He places a hand on each of her shoulders and starts to squeeze.

"Ooooh," she groans at his touch, feeling his fingers sink into her skin, "yeah, still sore, but it's getting a little bit better."

"Come on, feet up. Let me rub them," he tells her.

"But that means I wouldn't be able to stay in your arms," she says, snuggling in closer, somehow. He didn't think that was possible, but she manages to do it.

"Hey," he says, pressing a kiss to the top of her head, "whatever you want, birthday girl. But the offer's here. I know you liked it a lot yesterday." Instead of moving or saying anything, she just closes her eyes, her head still resting on his chest. He smiles to himself. She's got no idea, the special day that he's got in store for her, but it's certainly going to be the sort of day that she's going to remember for the rest of her life. In fact, the sort of day that's going to change her life.

The two stay there for a little bit in a comfortable silence, just enjoying each other. Enjoying the way that her body feels against his, the way that his heartbeat sounds ringing in her ears. Taylor could never put her finger on what her absolute most favorite sort of moment to share with Travis is, but these times when they're in silence and it's anything but uncomfortable... they're pretty damn close to the top of the list. The groggy mornings when it's just the two of them, their snuggles, and a warm mug of coffee in her hands. Every now and then, she presses it to her lips, taking a sip.
