not really a companion piece to 'something crazy' but inspired by a little detail in there // a request <3

It's a really pretty day when Taylor's plane touches down in Kansas City. There's a content smile on her face as she walks down to the tarmac, where a car is awaiting her. It's not her first time here to visit Travis- but it is her first time without a hotel room reserved in the city. It feels like a big step, to be staying with him, but they're officially a couple now, and she doesn't want to waste a single second of her time here. She's falling so hard.

Two weeks ago, Travis asked her to be his girlfriend in what she thinks is the most adorable way possible. He flew to New York to surprise her, showed up at her doorstep with a bouquet of flowers, a friendship bracelet tied around the paper holding the bouquet together. The words were spelled out in pastel-colored letter beads- BE MY GIRLFRIEND.

She really didn't take a single moment to contemplate the answer- she just knew.

He was only in New York for a matter of six hours. Just long enough to take her out for dinner, dessert, and give her some cuddles and kisses to hold her over, setting their plans for this weekend in stone. He had to be back to the airport after that, having to report to the training facility for a team workout and practice the next day.

It was just the sweetest thing ever- and she's been unable to contain her excitement for this weekend since then.

As the matter of fact, it's been a month and a half since he came into her life and he's already given her flowers like, ten times. At least. She's lost count. He's sent them to the stadium, to her homes in New York and Los Angeles, and given them to her himself on their dates. her countertop is never bare. Deep down, a part of her is screaming that there has to be some ulterior motive that he has. That he's love-bombing and it's all going to fall apart soon. But not a single thing that Travis has done has actually indicated that. It's just her trauma talking, the echoes of her past, times with Joe, Matty, and the others. She knows that, so she has been trying really hard to shove that down and get to know Travis for who he really is. A guy who isn't like them at all. A really great guy who just wants to make his girl really happy.

It's only a few minutes before her car pulls up to his house, and excitement bubbles in her stomach with the anticipation of seeing Travis. As the matter of fact, he's standing right there on the porch, a smile plastered onto his face as he waits for her.

As soon as the car is parked, Taylor releases her seatbelt and runs up to her boyfriend, her face lit with the glow of new romance. He makes her feel like a giddy little teenager with the absolute biggest crush on the hottest boy in school. The woman finds herself getting shy as he pulls her into his arms. "Hey there, pretty girl. I missed you."

"I missed you too," she mutters into his chest, taking a deep breath in and inhaling his scent, laundry detergent mixed with cologne. She's vaguely aware of Drew bringing her suitcase up to the house, standing at the bottom of the porch steps, but she pays him no mind. Every bit of her attention is fixated on Travis.

"How was the flight?" He rubs her back, holding her close.

"Nothing out of the ordinary," she shrugs. "But it felt super long. I was a little bit excited, because there was this really cute guy waiting for me at the destination. So, that made it a really special flight."

"Oh, sweetie." He kisses the top of her head. "Come on. I've got brownies and lemonade in the sunroom."

She turns around grabs her bag from Drew, quickly thanking him and telling him that he can take the night off, that they've got no plans to go out. After an evaluation of Travis's security system and some pretty serious begging on her behalf, the team agreed that the football player would be protection enough for his girl, on the caveat that they had to stay as nearby as possible and be looped into his security alerts. They found a hotel only five minutes away and made Taylor promise to text if she needed absolutely anything.
