Part one of two!

For Charlotte, it was nice spending the night with her friends along with Detective Armstrong who had became friends with John recently. "No, but seriously, what is it like dating a celebrity?" John asked as Jackson was telling them about his new boyfriend.

"Awesome. Yeah, he can always get a reservation, and the parties are sick," Jackson said.

"Reservations," John sighed out, causing everyone to laugh.

"Well, we're happy that you're happy," Lucy told Jackson.

"Liar," Armstrong exclaimed.

"No! No! No. I am. It's just– Aah! Men suck!" Lucy exclaimed.

"Amen to that," Charlotte exclaimed, earning a look from Jackson, "What? It's true," Charlotte told Jackson.

"Ouch," John exclaimed more towards what Lucy had said.

"Okay, no. the single men in LA suck. Every time I go out on a date and they find out that I'm a cop, they just get scared off." Lucy explained.

"Except for the freak who begged you to pepper spray his junk," Jackson reminded her.

"Oh! Peter Pepper-balls," John said.

Jackson and John laughed, "Wow! I told you that in confidence."

Look, those aren't men. Those are boys, okay? Real mem are not afraid of strong women. Also, I hate to be the bearer of bad news– dating a civilian, bad idea," Armstrong stated.

"I was told dating cops was a mistake. What, am I supposed to join aa nunnery? Sister Officer Lucy Chen?"

Charlotte laughed slightly as Armstrong said, "Look, no, I'm saying that– right now, end of shift means leaving the job behind when you go home. But in success, each one of you is gonna catch cases that kick your ass, that consume your every waking thought."

"And non-cops won't be able to identify," Jackson commented.

"Worse. They're gonna resent you for caring more about the dad than the living."

"Was your wife on the job?" John asked.

"No. no. she was an elementary school teacher. Yeah, kept me sane. Totally sane. I don't know what I did for her. Made her laugh, I guess- on a good day. ANyway, time for another round."
Charlotte and Lucy stood up and Lucy grabbed the empty pitcher, "I think you should go out with Buck. You two would be a cute couple and he's a firefighter," Charlotte commented.

"I thought he was dating that Taylor Kelly girl?" Lucy asked.

"I think it was a fling. They aren't together according to Eddie," Charlotte told her.

"Maybe–" Lucy muttered as the two made their way through the crowd. "Sorry," Lucy muttered bumping into someone.

The two made it to the bar, "Hey, excuse me," Charlotte said, trying to get a bartender's attention.

"Pace yourself. It's a marathon, not a sprint," a man told the two.

"Have you been waiting here long?" Lucy questioned the very handsome man.

"What month is it?" the man asked.

"Oh," Lucy exclaimed, causing the three to laugh. "Maybe we should just hop the counter."

"Yeah. I'm not much of a hopper, but I am a rock star at creating diversions. How do you feel about small fires?"

Charlotte shivered at the thought of a small fire as the man extended his hand out "Caleb."
