'Phœnicia? What is the success rate of the trials?'
Beatrice was holding a rail on the wall, gingerly inching forward trying to walk like she use to. Phœnicia was watching her while writing down on a piece of paper.
'Success rate... if I remember correctly the people who passed the trial are... fifteen?'
'fifteen?!'
'Yes. A lot of them end up dead and-'
*boom*
A burst of wind blew through the window as a cloud of debris rose up.
'Πουτάνας γιος!' Phœnicia swore as she ran to the window and shouted, 'The hospital is a sacred place remember!'
'SHUT UP PHŒNICIA!' A Brabantian accented voice rang out as more explosions followed.
Muttering under her breath, Phœnicia furiously wrote down the names of those she presumably saw fighting outside of the window as she took deep breaths to calm her down.
'Well, Beatrice let us get back to work, ok?' Phœnicia regained her calm face and offered her arm to Beatrice to help her get back to her bed.
'I have the books you asked for!' Al-Andalus opened the door gently, holding a stack of books and scrolls. 'I'll put them down on the table. Also Phœnicia? Indus said to assemble all of us medical workers since you know?' The man mimed the explosions with his hands.
'I'm coming but I have a list of people I refuse to treat.'
'Alright, I'll handle them for you.' Al-Andalus held out his hand for the list and ran his eyes over it. 'Beatrice, if you need us just ring the bell.'
Beatrice waited for them to leave as she reached for the books and their titles were... interesting.

There was no way Beatrice was going to read all of those pages. She grabbed a scroll that had handwritten tips for the trial.
1. Don't be arrogant. Keepers hate it when your type acts better than them.
2. If you have a niche skill. Show and present it and why it is practical.
3. Remember your place. Remember if you pass the trial then you will start at the bottom ranks of our society.
Alright. She could remember that. Beatrice reached for another scroll which was like multiple career day brochure all in one.

'Oi! Food's here! Water sprouter!' Upper Egypt snapped his fingers as he glared at her and dropped the tray carelessly, letting the soup splash in its bowl. He sat down on the chair near Beatrice's bed, frowned and crossed his arms.
Beatrice paid him no mind as she held the spoon and sipped at her soup.
"Oi! I'm talking to you!"
Beatrice felt bad about their initial meeting but now Upper Egypt's attitude was becoming unbearable. "I hear you weren't called to help with the incident right now." How lovely, she's feuding with a child now.
The boy's face flushed red as he pushed his chair to the ground and stormed out. At least he wasn't being annoying now. Beatrice finished her soup and she grabbed one of the books and flipped the pages to the middle before she threw it across the room in shock.
A picture of someone on the breaking wheel was smack dab on the middle of the page. She was never looking at the book about torture again.
She grabbed the Politics book and opened it as she skimmed through the pages as she restarted to eat her soup. Yelling started up outside of her room as she read more. She was good with technology. That was useful right? Yeah she took computer science and programming along with building tech.
How do I show that to them? She thought as she grabbed a pen and a paper to plan how to show her skills. The hospital was old school but there were pens at least. There were also some other types of modern technology so she could add to the ones they have.

That was a good plan. Alright maybe she should add some more details and askPhœnicia for wires and circuits. She can do this. She can pass this trial!
"YOU SUCK WATER SPROUTER!" Upper Egypt stomped back into the room.
Beatrice rolled her eyes and flopped on her back. If she pretended to sleep he left her alone. Also now she could think more about what she needed.
