Sophii's POV:

The plan was in motion.

Addison enchanted me with a tiny amount of her levitation spell, letting me float up and get back onto the island.

I would be the initial distraction.

After a couple minutes of being airborne, I quietly settled onto the grass, latching my claws into the ground.

To my surprise, the ivy had completely taken over the place.

The double doors to the Horizon Library were wide open, with the plant snaking along the walls and taking up every inch of available space.

Silently slinking into the shadows, I made sure to stay as hidden as possible, avoiding the ivy.

I made my way into the cathedral, leaping along the bookshelves and keeping my footfalls inaudible.

No one could know I was here.

"Reveal yourself, feline." Blackthorne's voice echoed through the library. "It's only a matter of time until we find you."

The ivy around me began to shift in place, with several tendrils rousing from where they were stationary on the walls.

My heartbeat quickened as I realized that they had begun to search for me.

Leaping from one shelf to another, I searched through my mind to think of some place safe.

The first thing I thought of was Marshall's forge, but from what I saw, fire was almost completely ineffective against the plant.

The Archives' room was overflowing with vines; I could tell because of the green consuming my peripheral vision.

Addison's office and bedroom might have been untouched, but she enchanted the room to never let anyone but herself get in.

However, it was my best chance at survival.

Clawing my way up the walls, I avoided using the stairs or guard railings; The ivy had taken over them.

Once I got to the second floor, I saw the librarian's living quarters and made a break for it.

SLAM!

I crashed headfirst into the invisible forcefield, letting out a pained yowl as I hissed in pain.

"Oh, you poor thing." Blackthorne chuckled, his voice echoing around me again. "You will make a fine host once I get my hands on you."

Panic rushed into my head as several vines slinked around my paws, effectively locking me in place.

I bit down on the plant, only for a stray tendril to snake around my muzzle and tighten my maw shut.

"No more screaming for help now," The obsidian armored knight sneered, making his way up the stairs toward me. "Just accept your fate, Sophii. If you're obedient, I'll make it quick."

I watched him, my eyes wide with fear as I saw his current state.

The ivy was tightly coiled around his limbs, covering his neck like a collar.

Sprouts of the plant came out of the vents of his helmet, or through any opening in his armor.

"Shocked, aren't you?" Blackthorne smiled, slowly walking over to me. "Can't cry for help if all your friends are already dead."

A tendril of ivy lifted up a limp, lifeless body by the neck, holding it up for me to see.

My heart leaped into my throat as I recognized Addison, the light gone from her dull eyes.
