Addison's POV:
My quick thinking saved us all from death.
In a moment of panic, I cast a safety spell over my four friends, including myself.
Marshall Valkyrie... Tia Aquaticlaw... Sophii... Prince Edward I-don't-know-his-last-name...
The world burst into a blaze of sheer white, sending us all reeling back.
Marshall shielded me with his wings, covering his eyes with one glove and using the other to protect mine.
Sophii let out this surprisingly fierce roar, getting a shriek of terror out of Permafrost. Was she attacked? I have no idea.
I didn't hear anything from Tia, which was worrying.
Edward wasn't in our general vicinity at the moment, so I wasn't sure if the spell worked.
What mattered most was that at least Marshall and Sophii were out of the danger zone... Since they were the biggest "threats" to Northwynd.
Once the light had faded away, I was glad to be staring up at the glass skylight dome ceiling of the Horizon Library.
I let out a relieved sigh, closing my eyes to take a brief rest.
Marshall huffed from beside me, awkwardly patting me on the shoulder. "I think we're both on the floor, Addi..."
Cold marble pressed up against my back; We were probably on the second floor or the Weeping Willow platform. "I'm aware of that."
The blacksmith sat up, mumbling something under his breath and steadying himself against the guard railing. "Were we about to get executed or something?"
"Not on my watch." I let out a silent groan of dismay as I recognized King Arthur's husky voice. "I should've known to be wary of Perma... She loves having power in her hands. Luckily she never knew I don't get affected by magic."
My body ached; The spell took too much out of me.
"How did you get here?..." I asked the king, slowly sitting up. "Did you just-"
"Your spell affects anyone who is touching the person that it is being cast on." Sophii explained, padding over to me with her massive paws. "Tia got scared and hid behind him, pressed up against his side. That's how he got here."
I grimaced at the sight of the captain sitting beside her mentor. "Hello, Your Majesty."
"Greetings, Addison." He dipped his head respectfully, as if he knew that I despised him but still wanted to maintain some form of manners.
My previous guesses earlier were right; We were on the Weeping Willow platform, with the canopy of the tree looming high overhead.
Soundlessly getting to my feet, I examined our current state.
Marshall was fine, and so was Sophii.
Edward seemed slightly phased by the situation, but he was unharmed.
Tia's injury had healed over, but the scar remained.
King Arthur just looked like a creep... I didn't care about him much.
"Marshall, Sophii, Edward," I began, casting a side glance at Tia. "Come with me. Let's leave these two to have some privacy."
