Marshall's POV:
Imprisoned in the dungeons of the Silverstorm Stronghold were two prisoners: Addison Reece and Don Alterra Nautilus.
Both of them were chained up and locked away far away from one another, fed three times a day and treated like cattle... Just as they should be.
After all, they were the reason why the Horizon Library was doomed to fall.
I didn't bother to check if it was still in the air, but if it still is, I'm not complaining.
Though I'm pretty sure we're far from being friends right now.
A week had passed since the Metamorphosis event occurred, and it ended up failing since a troop of Pyronica phoenixes burned down all of Lunarift's protest areas.
Yay us.
Tia and I deemed it useless to keep up the facade we were planning to put up for Addison and Don, so we decided to put that on hold for now.
If we ever visited the dungeon though, then we'd execute the plan.
Also, both of those prisoners miraculously survived.
They're being held on magical life support like Queen Cordelia did though, so that's kinda... Bad.
Tia told me not to worry too much about it, though.
Yet, it hurts me to even imagine the thought of Addison's life teetering on the edge of a knife.
I would care less for Don, but still.
What remained of our little team (that being Edward, Sophii, Tia, and me) decided to head back to the Horizon Library just to regroup.
To my surprise, it was still floating.
"Whatever magic Addison had placed on this thing is somehow still working," Edward commented as I descended down from the clouds. "I thought the island would fall if the friendship group broke apart?"
I shook my head, skidding to a stop on the grassy ground beside him. "Apparently not. Maybe Addison changed it so that the friendship part doesn't apply, but removing the life force does."
"Isn't there a fancy, poetic saying for that last part?" Sophii meowed, padding over to us through the moonflowers. "Like, uh, until dying do we split or something."
"Do you mean 'til' death do us part'?" Tia replied, unbuttoning her captain's coat.
The shadowshifter shook her head, sitting down on her haunches beside Edward. "Same thing..."
"Mhm, totally." The captain snorted, rolling her eyes. "Marshall, did you check if the elevation of the island has changed? Any damage, anything different, anything... Weird, in general?"
I shook my head. "No. I didn't sense anything that changed."
"What about the ivy?" The prince asked, brushing back some of his golden-blonde hair. "Because if it overgrew while we were gone, I don't want a repeat of my half-brother trying to reanimate our corpses with plants."
"Don't remind me of Addison's brutal puppet of a body," I shuddered, recalling the damage that Blackthorne had physically and mentally inflicted on us. "That scares me."
"Scares you?" Tia cocked an eyebrow at me, planting her hands on her hips. "You should've seen what Secret was trying to do to Sir Nyx. Tendrils in his mouth and everywhere else..."
"Okay that's enough," Edward chuckled nervously, cutting her off. "We should head up there and see what happened while we were gone. Maybe we'll rediscover our old home to be... Better than we left it?"
