Addison's POV:

About a little more than a month ago, Tia had mentioned something about a female hippogriff she owned since before the war began.

That information didn't seem important at the time, so we all collectively agreed to deem it all useless.

We were all so wrong for doing that.

The four of us who stayed at the Horizon Library heard the news that the brutal attacks from Spiritvale were over via scroll.

It was handwritten and signed by Sir Nyx himself, so it seemed legit enough.

After examining the paper with all eight of our eyes, we deemed it safe to go outside and agreed to head out to Pyronica just to relax and bond over some food.

Just as we all landed on ground level, I heard an ear-splitting screech break through the quiet nighttime air.

"What in the world was that?" Edward squeaked, frightened by the sound. "Are we in Everhallow's caves? It sure sounds like it."

"If we were, that'd most likely be a baby wyvern on the loose," Sophii meowed nonchalantly, padding beside the prince. "I used to deal with those all the time, and trust me, they're much louder up close."

Marshall came up beside me, scanning the sky with his keen eyes. "Smoke in the air. Cast an invisibility spell, we might need to hide."

I did as he told me to with no further question, shielding us all and quickly camouflaging us with the field of blooming moonflowers.

We stayed low in the grass, hiding underneath the magical veil that kept us out of sight.

The way the spell worked was that those who were affected by it could see their peers, but no one else could.

It was basically just turning us all into ghosts for a temporary period of time.

"If it's a phoenix, I'll confront them myself." The blacksmith whispered, his amber gaze flickering to meet with mine. "And if they try to hurt you, I'll give them physical trauma worse than what Tia could ever possibly inflict."

"You really think you're stronger than me?"

I let out a startled yelp as I saw Tia descending from the cloud barrier above us, streaking toward the ground in a vertical nosedive.

Plumes of smoke rose from her trail of descent, tainting the indigo skies with wisps of dark gray.

She flared out her vibrant-colored wings, skidding to a sudden halt beside us.

Wait... Wings?

After doing a double take, I realized she had mounted a large griffin; Its armor was painted to match the skies above to blend in with its surroundings.

To my surprise, it breathed out a subtle puff of smoke.

"What in the world are you all doing down here, huddled like razor clams beneath the sand during low tide?" Tia snorted, sliding off of her feathery companion. "Did I scare you?"

"Yes, yes you did!" Edward exclaimed, eyeing her mount up and down. "Also, your hippogriff looks a little... Off."

I followed the prince's gaze, staring at the armored creature.

Normally, most griffins were a cross between an eagle and a lion, but this one was much different.

It was a lovebird... A lovebird on all four talons.

"Oh, this is Norski, she's my companion." The captain smiled, patting the winged creature on its rounded, scarlet beak. "Say hi, Norski."

Her beady, black eyes settled down on me, and I felt a cold shiver shoot down my spine.

"You can see through the invisibility spell?" I breathed, watching as the griffin soundlessly ruffled her mango-colored feathers.

Tia blinked at me. "What spell? You guys were just sitting here, out in the open."

"No, no, there is a spell." Sophii meowed, rising from where she was laying beside Edward. "You can see us through it."

The captain visibly tensed up, her breath abruptly hitching in her throat. "What?"

"Addison cast an invisibility spell." Marshall repeated, standing up and pulling me to my feet. "It worked, and you can see us. Were you affected by the spell, too?"

"She wasn't in range," I argued, watching as our orca-tailed companion remounted her lovebird griffin. "Also, do you wanna come to the Fyre and Flames Grill with us? We're gonna spend some bonding time together."

Tia shook her head. "Heh, no thanks. I have some important stuff to do."

Edward cocked an eyebrow at her, clearly unconvinced. "By stuff do you mean-"

"Hush." She snapped, her icy, cobalt gaze piercing through him. "I need to train with King Arthur again. He wants me to fight in Everhallow's frontlines and I'm not about to make a fool of myself in front of Queen Xera."

Norski flapped out her mango-colored, armor-plated wings, lifting off and soaring away with Tia on her feathery back.

I watched as they both disappeared into the clouds, heading northward.

"She seems stressed," I commented, sitting back down in the grassy patch of moonflowers.

"She always is," Marshall snorted, rolling his eyes. "It's almost as if she never gets any time to cool herself down or relax. She practically thrives off of adrenaline."

"Don't we all?" Sophii grinned, padding up beside me and pawing at my hood. "Adrenaline's my best friend, especially in parkour. Gets my blood flowing."

"Uhh, I don't mean to be rude -and I mean this with all due respect-, but are we going to Pyronica or what?" Edward butted in, reaching down to pick up the panther by the front paws. "I'm kinda hungry."

"Me too," I agreed, pulling my violet hood over my head. "So, boba tea and chill?"

"Yeah," Marshall nodded, flaring out his fiery wings. "I'll fly ahead and tell Kairo that we're coming. He'll be happy to see us back."

"Thanks, Marsh." I said, feeling a gust of wind blow towards me as he lifted himself into the air.

As he flew off, I smiled as he gave me a reassuring wink.

Hopefully this would be the beginning for a long lasting, well-needed peace period.
