Marshall's POV:
Out in the training field, Tia and I were practicing some hand-to-hand combat.
The blizzard outside had strengthened into a hailstorm, but we were both exchanging blows regardless of the weather.
A fierce wind buffeted my wings, forcing me to keep them tucked to my side to prevent me from being swept away by the storm.
Tia, on the other hand, had used her orca tail as an anchor to keep her in place, using her smaller size to an advantage.
She was visibly enjoying our sparring session, dodging my blows with ease and striking my weak spots.
It was almost as if the circumstances surrounding us were giving her a boost instead of dragging her down.
"Pretend I'm Addison and I just accepted Don's marriage proposal!" The captain sharply barked at me, swiftly jabbing at my side. "Protect that raven from getting in a toxic relationship!"
"You give horrible advice!" I yelped, dodging a ridiculously fast uppercut. "I'm trying to protect Addison, anyways! Also, slow down, I can't keep up with you!"
"No one's gonna wait for you to catch up on the battlefield," She snapped, promptly slugging me in the chin. "You're gonna eat dirt the second you fight another person."
I couldn't land a single blow on her, leaving me to forfeit and topple into a light layer of powdery snow.
As I caught my breath, Tia knelt down beside me, lifting her tail off of the ground and tapping my shoulder with her tail flukes. "Too slow."
"I'm not used to fighting, you know that." I huffed, sitting up on the icy tiles. "Especially in cold weather like this, it's difficult to fight."
"Everyone starts somewhere," She replied, backing up to give me some space. "You just started late."
I rolled my eyes at her. "Wait 'til you get to Pyronica, you should remember your words there..."
"Calling me weak?" The captain snorted, cocking an eyebrow at me. "Oh, I'll show you weak. However, because I'm merciful, I'll give you a few minutes to recover before I beat your wings into the ground."
"How nice of you," I groaned sarcastically, breathing out a fine cloud of steam. "Thanks for reminding me how easily you could take my life if you wanted to... It's a bittersweet feeling."
"How in the world would that be bittersweet?" She asked, slightly surprised. "Like, I get the bad part, but-"
Before she could continue, I abruptly tackled her, bringing her down by her shoulders and pinning her between my body and the ground.
"You let your guard down, how could you?" I teased, successfully keeping her in place.
Tia violently writhed in my grip, uttering a curse under her breath before forcefully slamming her knee into my groin.
I let out a gasp of pain as I felt the bone firmly grind in between my legs, unable to retaliate as she forcefully kicked me off of her.
Rolling to the side, I quickly got back up on my feet, rubbing my hand against my inner thigh. "You fight dirty..."
"Sorry, that's just my style for almost everything." The captain chuckled, bouncing back onto her sailor boots. "Surrender?"
