I go to the joint bunks knocking on the door and asking for her like I normally do, I can hear her swearing the whole way over as she swings the door open glaring at me. " I really hoped Varrish would've killed you."
I smile, " Awe, I missed you to Mairi."
" What do you want?" She asks sharply.
" To wish you luck today."
" Well I don't need it-" She begins to step back closing the door when I stopped it. " I actually came by to give you something."
" I don't want it."
I roll my eyes pulling out the small carving of Andarna to give to her. " Liam made it for me. Maybe this can be your good luck charm from him."
Her eyes droop just a little as they look down to the carving rolling it in her hands, she sighs stuffing it in her inside pocket where the armor is. I couldn't help smiling a bit as she glared back up at me. " I'm not thanking you."
" I know. I was hoping you would wear the armor too. Good choice. Do you need a crash course on Threshing or you think you got it?"
She crosses her arms, " Since your here..."
" If you have a feeling... go off it. No matter what, keep your eyes down and blade up. I'm sure your aware this isn't only about finding a dragon? It's also a bloodbath getting our anyone they see unfit. You have any first years that see you as unfit?"
" A few." She admits begrudgingly.
I swallow down my fear with a curt nod. " Well... Strike first. Even if it's just to wound them. Or just run." I smile, " You know... I thought your brother was going to kill me last year. Ran right into him."
She raises a brow, " Why didn't' he?"
" I really don't know. I wasn't bonded to Rhys yet, so Xaden and the others still wanted me dead... I just think.. no I know.. That just wasn't who Liam was. He needs to know you before making a sure judgement. But like I said... I don't know why he didn't. I deserved it. He should've."
