Looking over her desk at the pair of her lions sitting across from her in the headmaster's, no- it was hers now so it's the headmistress' office, Minerva was having a difficult time not beaming openly.
But that would not suit for a newly minted Headmistress, though she was quite pleased with the conversation currently happening mostly non-verbally right in front of her – it seems they'd just decided to let him do all the talking. Bless their youthful hearts.
She'd have to wait until such a time as she was not functioning in her official capacity to have a more laid-back conversation with them. She'd already surmised why they were here and thought, while fighting a smile, that it was about damned time.
Her two favorite students were looking oddly serious and frankly, far more formal about these affairs than was strictly necessary. Though she knew deep down that to at least him, she was a beloved motherly figure, which probably explained why they were here in the first place.
"Prof- er, Headmistress... " Mr. Potter said tentatively. She could tell his nerves were high, though they didn't need to be. "We just wanted you to be among the first to know, that Hermione here and I are, " he paused for just a moment, "together."
Hermione smiled softly and nodded before giving in to her urge to hold his hand as they sat in the overstuffed chairs across from her, a subtle blush rising to her cheeks. They'd almost done it a few times since they got here, and it seemed a considerable effort was required for them to not be joined at the hand.
"I see that, Mr. Potter. Miss Granger, I do hope you understand that this should in no way interfere with your duties as Head Girl." She said, allowing her "stern headmistress" face to soften to a more neutral expression, though she couldn't quite fight down a small smile. The whole bloody castle knew they've been bounding toward each other for the last few years. The whole castle – except perhaps for these two who must have only recently had the revelation.
"Oh, of course not, headmistress. I'm certain it won't affect my studies and other duties." Hermione said seriously before softening into an almost embarrassed tone. "You see, Harry here thought it would be most proper for us to tell you directly. It appears he holds you in quite high regards."
Now it was his turn to turn pink, and he did as his eyes went wide when he realized Hermione was going to openly share that bit of information directly to her.
His eyes reduced to their normal size and met Minerva's before looking away as he shrugged and nodded slowly in assent.
With this, the headmistress thought it best to ease up on the pair, and she gave a large smile, crinkling her eyes.
"That's wonderful you two!" she said cheerily, "And fantastic timing too. If you'd have waited until after this term it would have been too late – but as it stands, I believe Filius owes me 30 galleons."
They both appeared shocked as they were dismissed with a smile and well wishes.
