Chapter 1: Serena Cage

Twenty-Five Years Later

There was an eighteen-year-old girl named Serena Cage who was on her way to High School. She turned out to be the younger daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade and the younger sister of Cassandra Cage.

It has been twenty-five years since Earthrealm was in peace. No more danger. No more Quan Chi. And no more Shinnok. Not even the encounter with the Outworld warriors. During the events of the new timeline, Sonya was in a relationship with Johnny Cage not long after the Netherrealm War and Shinnok's defeat, they got married. Together, they had two daughters, Cassandra Carlton Cage and Serena Cage, but they later divorced; allegedly due to Sonya frequently putting work before her family.

When her parents were divorced, Serena became a bit depressed when she knew her mother Sonya had to be away from the family and continued her job. It felt like her family was falling apart, but it was Sonya's choice. Johnny was mad about it.

As Serena finished her day at kindergarten when she was a little girl, she and Cassie were picked up by Kenshi on behalf of her busy parents. The pair head to Raiden's temple where Serena shows an interest in becoming a kombatant like the warriors who died a long time ago. Noticing her interest, Raiden decided to begin training Serena. Though Cassie was only interested in wanting to become a Special Force soldier, Serena supported her choice. Her family supported Serena's dream to become a kombatant.

When the years passed, Serena continued her training with Raiden, but she had to help her family and the Special Force. Especially helping with Cassie and her teammates.

Right now, Serena was alone and began to sing one of her favorite songs.

Little town
It's a quiet village
Every day
Like the one before
Little town full of little people
Waking up to say

Then every one of Earthrealm popped out of nowhere and started to sing a song while everyone was too busy working.

Serena started to sing back as she continued to walk through the street.

There goes the baker with his tray like always
The same old bread and rolls to sell
Every morning just the same
Since the morning that we came
To this poor provincial town

When Serena entered school, she eventually made it to the classroom and then she was greeted by her teacher Miss Haruna.

"Good morning, Serena!" Haruna greeted her.

She smiled at her. "Good morning, Miss Serena. How is your day?"

"I'm doing well. What about you?" Haruna asked.

"I am doing great. I was planning to send this book back after I finished this wonderful story," Serena said.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it. Now hurry and take your seat, Serena. The school just started." Haruna suggested.

She nodded. "Okay."

Then the first class started. After a while, Serena was walking through the hallway when she heard everyone talking strangely about her.

Look, there she goes, the girl is strange, no question
Dazed and distracted, can't you tell?
Never part of any crowd
