When Liu Kang entered the West Wing room, he complained about how Serena refused to go to dinner with him. Just when he was alone, he took the hand mirror from the table and wanted to check on the girl. This hand mirror was given by Shinnok before he was defeated.
"Show me the girl," Liu Kang demanded.
When the magic hand mirror showed him Serena, all he ever saw was crying spending her day in the room while Jade tried her best to comfort her.
"I'm sure you'll get to know him. Why don't you give him a chance?" Jade suggested.
"I don't want to get to know him. I don't want anything to do with him." Serena sobbed.
Liu Kang was now feeling guilty for hurting her. Though she may be stubborn sometimes, he was feeling bad for her for what he did.
He sighed, putting putting hand mirror away. As he looked at the wilted rose, the stress was taking over him. He remembered Shinnok and Quan Chi had given him a red rose since he was resurrected from the dead. This was the last give from Shinnok and Quan Chi: a curse.
A last word Shinnok had spoken to him.
"The rose I had offered you was truly an enchanted rose which would bloom until twenty-five years later if you could learn love with another and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell then the spell will be broken. If not, you and your fellowship will be doomed to remain as Netherrealm zombies for all time."
"I'm just fooling myself. She'll never see me as anything but a zombie. It's hopeless." Liu Kang said to himself.
