Chapter 12: Telling Serena's Family What Happened

When Raiden and Fujin returned to Earthrealm, they teleported to the Special Force headquarters and went to see Johnny, Sonya, and Cassie immediately.

"Johnny! Sonya! Cassandra!" Raiden called out to them, approaching them.

"What is it, Raiden?" Cassie asked, confused what was going on.

"It's Serena. She was kidnapped by Liu Kang and his Netherrealm warriors." Fujin said.

"What!?" Johnny, Sonya, and Cassie said in shock.

"How did this happen!?" Cassie asked, now worried about her younger sister being held captive.

"And how did she get kidnapped!?" Johnny asked, panicked.

"When I was captured, Serena made an exchange by taking my place, so they let me go," Raiden explained.

"Why didn't you stop her from taking your place!? Serena would have been safed if she didn't exchanged!" Sonya cried out. Her eyes filled with tears when she was scared to lose her younger daughter.

"Serena saved me, and now we have to rescue her," Raiden said.

"Going back there will be a problem for us," Fujin said.

"What do you mean?" Jaqcui asked.

"If we crossed the line again, Liu Kang and his warriors will hurt Serena if we dare to trespass Netherrealm, again" Fujin warned.

"And Liu Kang even wants to kill me if I return," Raiden said.

"There is no problem. We won't let that happen. We'll rescue her. Gather the men up, Cass. We are going." Sonya said.

"Okay, Mom," Cassie said, nodding.

"Get yourself recovered, Raiden. You look like shit." Sonya suggested.

"I'll be fine. I'm still coming with you to rescue Serena." Raiden assured her.

"Me, too," Fujin said.

She sighed. "Okay."

"Sonya, you can't be serious going there, aren't you? You will be killed if you choose to save Serena." Johnny said, worried.

"She's my daughter and I have to go there," Sonya said.

"She's my daughter, too, and so is Cassie," Johnny argued.

"We don't have to argue, Cage. We have a lot of situations going on. Either if we save her or do nothing. My choice is to rescue Serena." Sonya said.

"Oh, so now you call me Cage instead of calling me Johnny? And why is my ex-wife is such a pain in the--"

"Enough! I don't have time for that." With that, Sonya took off walking away, so Johnny went after her.

"Sonya!" Johnny called out to her.

"Leave me alone, Cage," Sonya said.

"You can't just walk away! I'm only here to protect you and our daughters! I won't let that happen to you, too!" Johnny argued.

"Why do you care?" She asked.

"Because I care about you! And the girls! This is what split us in the first place because you disappeared in your work never time for me, Cassie, and Serena!" Johnny argued.

"I had responsibilities! Sorry you couldn't be the center of attention!" Sonya argued back.

Johnny narrowed his eyes in anger and depressed. "There was a time when you cared more about your family than your job, General."

Then Johnny stormed off, leaving Sonya alone. Sonya sighed raspy. Then she continued to walk away as she continued her job.

"Don't worry, Serena. We'll save you." Sonya told herself, promising Serena she would come rescue her. And so are Johnny and Cassie who wanted to rescue her.
