Chapter 21: Shinnok's Return

When they were ready on a mission to rescue Serena, at the Sky Temple, where Bo' Rai Cho was patiently waiting for his friend Raiden.

They talked about the possibility of bringing back Liu Kang and Kung Lao to the realm of the living, thereby dashing any hopes of bringing back the remaining revenants to the side of good.

When Raiden was recuperating in the Jinsei Chamber, Bo'Rai Cho was attacked by Shinnok. As he got out of the Jinsei Chamber, he never expected Shinnok had return with the help of the Wiseman, Diamond, Sapphire, and his goons who were friends of Diamond.

"Shinnok!? How did you--!?"

"Isn't it obvious, Raiden? I released him so he can help me capture you and the rest of your friends, so Serena will come to my trap." Diamond said with an evil smirk.

The Thunder God glared at him. "Don't you dare come near my student! She'll never be yours!"

"Tell me, Thunder God. Where is Serena? Why is she not here with you? She was supposed to guard the Sky Temple while you and Fujin were away." Diamond said.

"You leave her out of this! This is between me and Shinnok! And your goons as well!" Raiden said.

"Yet another of your allies falls to me. When he dies, I will claim his soul." Shinnok began talking.

"You know not his power, his soul cannot be subjugated," Raiden said.

"Shall we kill him, Lord Shinnok?" Sapphire asked excitedly.

"Not yet, but we have to capture them first, then we'll let Serena come to our trap," Diamond said.

"But he will bear witness as I conquer his realm while Diamond would marry off Raiden's apprentice. Then I will imprison him as he did to me." Shinnok said, angry at Raiden.

"I would not boast of victory premature nor of hurting Serena," Raiden said.

Then Shinnok walked away. "I have already won, Raiden."

Then Raiden was left alone and bullied by Diamond, Sapphire, and the goons, and he started to fight.

Shinnok then walked into the Jinsei and proceeded to corrupt the life force of Earthrealm, gaining immense power and transforming into a frightening monster in the process, while Raiden was captured by one of Shinnok's bone hands.

Suddenly, Johnny and Cassie arrived in no time and saw what was going on. They found Raiden was imprisoned while Shinnok recuperating in the Jinsei Chamber.

Diamond noticed their arrival when a wicked grin appeared. "So you two arrived. Just in time."

"What did you do to Raiden?" Johnny asked, glaring at him.

"We wanted to make sure you come to our trap, then we'll capture Serena next to make her my wife. Johnny Cage, may I have your blessing to wed your younger sister?" Diamond said evilly.

"You're insane! I won't let you marry my sister!" Cassie said in anger.

"And you don't have my blessing! You are nothing but a lunatic!" Johnny shouted, pointing at Diamond with his index finger.

"Very well. Welcome to the family, Cage." Then Diamond used his new power to capture Johnny and Cassie, waiting for Serena to come get them when she returned.
