Chapter 19: The Aftermath

After taking him back to the castle, Serena attempts to heal Liu Kang's wounds. The other zombies were hiding in the hallway, watching over them.

"Will you hold still, already!?" Serena scolded the Shaolin zombie.

He let out a scream in pain. "That hurts!"

"If you hold still, it wouldn't hurt it much!" Serena argued.

"If you hadn't run away, this would have been happening," Liu Kang argued back, being a smart-ass.

"If you hadn't frightened me, I wouldn't run away!" Serena shouted.

Liu Kang was about to say anything, but he'd rather keep his mouth shut since Serena was right along. He did frighten her because he was worried Serena might touch damn them all by touching the enchanted rose.

"Well, you shouldn't been in the West Wing!" He protested, making Serena angry a lot.

"Well, you should've controlled your temple if you weren't being a total complete jerk!" Serena protested back, scolding.

He sighed in defeat as he looked away impatiently.

"Now hold still. This might sting a little." When Serena began to take care of his wounds, Liu Kang eventually stayed still trying his best to adjust the pain.

"Thank you for saving my life, by the way," Serena said.

Liu Kang looked her in the eyes and his eyes softened a bit. Her eyes reminded him of Johnny's while she had Sonya's look.

"... You're welcome." He said.

"I haven't told you my name, have I? My name is Serena Cage, Johnny and Sonya's daughter." Serena said as she continued taking care of him.

It seems like Liu Kang has become too kind to her in the twenty-five years he used to be. He smiled a bit.

"I'm Liu Kang. I'm sure you already know my name." Liu Kang said.

"Is it true you used to be friends with my parents?" She asked. She was curious about what his friendship with her parents was like.

He nodded. "It was a long time ago. We were friends when we went to the Mortal Kombat tournament to save Earthrealm. I even managed to defeat Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn to save Earthrealm."

She let out a soft smile. "That was the bravest thing you did."

He smiled. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Serena said awkwardly where their relationship began to slowly improve.
