Chapter 25: Kill The Zombie

When Serena arrived at the Sky Temple in Earthrealm, she found her family and friends were captured by Shinnok's bone hands. There she faced Diamond as she began to confront him.

"Diamond!" Serena said in anger.

"Serena!" Everyone cried out for her.

"You're okay! And free!" Raiden cried out in relief.

"Why, Serena. Just in time." Diamond said with a smirk.

"What do you think you're doing? Let them go!" Serena demanded.

"I would if you," Diamond said.

"If what? Don't tell me what I think it is, Diamond!" Serena said.

"If you marry me, of course," Diamond said.

"What!?"

"One little word, Serena, that is all it takes. You will marry me if I let them go. If you don't, they will die." Diamond said.

"Oh, yeah? Well, I belong to someone else now!" Serena said.

Diamond narrowed his eyes with jealousy. "With who?"

"You'll see!" Then Serena brought the magic hand mirror and shouted, "Show me Liu Kang!"

When Serena showed her mirror to her enemy, Diamond was in shock to see Liu Kang as a zombie. One of Diamond's goons was in shock when they were scared and disgusted.

"Gah! It's hideous!"

"Is he dangerous!?"

"Is that Liu Kang!?"

"Liu Kang has never hurt everyone! Look, I know he is vicious, but he is kind and gentle! He's..." She let out a smile as she blushed softly, saying, "He's my friend."

Johnny and Sonya were in shock to hear this. They looked at each others' faces and then looked at Serena.

Cassie didn't say anything but felt shocked. So was Jacqui.

Raiden widened his eyes and gritted his teeth as he overheard her story in disbelief. Fujin widened his eyes, too.

Bo Rai Cho was lastly confused about her new relationship with Liu Kang.

Diamond then snatched her mirror as he looked at Liu Kang's face again. He was disgusted but jealous of her relationship with the zombie.

"If I didn't know better, I'd think you had feelings for this monster," Diamond said.

"He is no monster, Diamond! You are! He never hurt everyone!" Serena said.

"I've heard of the effects of dark magic but I've never before seen it with my eyes! This is a threat to our very existence!" Diamond said as his friends agreed to that.

"We can't even be running off to warn the zombie!" Then Diamon turned to face Serena, demanding one of his goons, "Lock her up."

"No!" Serena shouted. Too late, she was captured by Shinnok's bone hands and placed beside her family and friends.

After that, Diamond went to check on Shinnok in the Jinsei Chamber still corrupting it. "Lord Shinnok, shall we kill Liu Kang and his allies."

He nodded. "Be my guest. They were useless to me."

Then Diamond turned to face his friends. "Let's say we kill the zombie!"

His friends shouted in response. Then they went to the city of Earthrealm and explained the situation about Liu Kang and his zombie friends. The people of Earthrealm were in shocked but agreed to kill Liu Kang and his friends.

We're not safe until he's dead
He'll come stalking us at night
Set to sacrifice our children to his monstrous appetite
He'll wreak havoc on our village if we let him wander free

So it's time to take some action, boys
It's time to follow me

Through the mist, through the woods
Through the darkness and the shadows
It's a nightmare, but it's one exciting ride

Say a prayer, then we're there
At the drawbridge of a castle
And there's something truly terrible inside

It's a zombie; he eats brains, razor-sharp ones
Massive paws, killer claws for the feast

Hear him roar, see him foam
But we're not coming home
Till he's dead, good and dead!

Light your torch, mount your horse

Screw your courage to the sticking place

We're counting on Diamond to lead the way

Through the mist, through the wood
Where within a haunted castle
Something's lurking that you don't see every day

It's a zombie, one as tall as a mountain
We won't rest till he's good and deceased
Sally forth! Tally ho!
Grab your sword! Grab your bow!
Praise the Lord and here we go!

We don't like what we don't understand
In fact, it scares us
And this monster is mysterious at least
Bring your guns! Bring your knives!

At the castle, the servants discovered the mob trying to storm the castle and soon get the jump on them except Diamond when they break open the castle doors.

Hearts ablaze, banners high
We go marching into battle
Unafraid, although the danger just increased

Raise the flag! Sing the song!
Here we come, we're fifty strong
And fifty Frenchmen can't be wrong
Let's kill the Zombie!
