Chapter 8: Rescuing Raiden

"Is that it?" Serena asked after she and Fujin had teleported to the castle for a few seconds.

"This is it, but we must be careful. Liu Kang and the other fallen warriors might be watching us." Then the two entered the castle as they went searching for Raiden.

"Master Raiden? Are you in there?" Serena called out to him.

"Brother!?" Fujin called out to him as well.

Meanwhile...

Kung Lao was having a conversation with Nightwolf when they heard two voices calling out. When they quickly checked, they saw Fujin was with the girl with golden hair and sapphire eyes they had been looking for.

"Hey, look! It's a girl!" Kung Lao exclaimed quietly.

"I know it's a girl," Nightwolf said in annoyance.

"Don't you see? She's the one! The girl we had been waiting for! She has come here to break the spell!" Kung Lao said happily before he went following Fujin and Serena.

"Now wait a minute! Get back here!" Nightwolf said quietly as he followed him.

"Do you think he's in the dungeon room?" Serena asked.

"Of course, but I don't know where they hide Raiden," Fujim said. Then they heard the door opening when they noticed the light was glowing from inside the room.

Serena and Fujin looked at each others' faces and then looked at the door. They then entered the room where they found themselves in the dungeon room. Suddenly, they didn't notice Kung Lao and Nightwolf were hiding. They were the ones who opened the door.

"Is anyone there?" Serena called as she took the torches.

"Brother?" Fujin called out. "Are you you in there?"

"Fujin? Serena?" Suddenly, they found Raiden locked up in the cell where he was covered in injuries.

"Master! You're okay!" Serena cried out as she ran up to him.

"Serena, how did you get here in Netherrealm? You know it's forbidden for you to enter here." Raiden said, worried.

"It doesn't matter. We came to rescue you." Serena said.

"Fujin, why did you bring Serena here? Her family will be worried if they find out about this." Raiden protested.

"I told her it would be dangerous for her to rescue you, but I don't have a choice but to save you, brother," Fujin said.

"Serena, I want you and Fujin to leave this place. You must go now!" Raiden pleaded with them to leave.

"No, Raiden! We won't leave you!" Serena refused as she held Raiden's hand. Suddenly, the two were being grabbed in the back of their cloaks by Liu Kang who saw them trespassing his castle.

"What are you two doing here!?" Liu Kang growled in anger, causing Serena to drop the torches.

Raiden screamed out, "Run, Fujin and Serena!"
