Madeenah's POV
I'm getting married in two weeks. I can't believe I'm saying that. I've been so busy with so many things. Trying to balance school while also planning my wedding, outfits, guests and so many other things. I've barely had any time to myself with all the stuff I need to do. Baba agreed to let all the wedding activities be done here but the daurin aure will be in Kano. Ya Muhammad will go with his people on a private jet, do the daurin aure then come back that same day. The money of this family still shocks me.
Mami wanted so many events, but I couldn't handle all that, so we just decided on a Budan Kai and Dinner but she definitely expressed how she wished there were more. I also started driving school on Fridays and Saturday. I did a test drive, and I was actually good at it so instead I can get my temporary driver's license in three to four weeks.
I and Hafsa are planning her outfits too. She swipes on her phone to show me the designs she wants. "I need to find the perfect one." She says.
"You will." I assure her as I read my book.
"How many bridesmaid is there ma?" She asks.
"8 of you guys. You then three of my friends from Kano, then my cousins."
"Okay good, there's no way I can accidentally match with them." She sighs.
"You're going to be wearing the same thing." I point out.
"Yeah, but different designs." She rolls her eyes at me.
"Well, it doesn't really matter to me what you guys' wear. As long as you're there." I say just as I get a text from the person I least expect. Ya Muhammad.
We haven't really spoken much in the past two weeks. He's mostly at the office and misses dinner almost every night. I can count how many times I have seen him.
"Ah ah. You're hubby is looking for his wifey." Hafsa teases as she bumps my shoulder.
I push her away, "Shut up."
Ya Muhammad
Where are you?
Madeenah
In school.
Ya Muhammad
I'm aware. Where?
Madeenah
The garden close to the parking lot.
He doesn't reply after that. I look around trying to catch sight of him, but I see no one.
"You and this your fiancé sha. Very complicated relationship." Hafsa laughs when she sees the texts.
I start to say 'shut up' when a voice interrupts. A voice full of shock and anger.
"Fiancé?" Khalil stands there.
I look up at him, as he stares down at me.
"What do you want?" Hafsa scowls at him.
"Madeenah?" He takes a step closer to me, "What did she say? What fiancé?" He asks.
I slowly get up, ready to face this situation head on. "I'm getting married Khalil." I say.
He stares at me in shock. "Madeenah, are you joking?" He asks.
"No. I'm getting married." I tell him.
"Is this a way for you to get back at me?" He asks and I gape at him, "Because I went ahead and got married to someone else and not you?"
"I am not that stupid." I scoff.
