Madeenah's POV
I am weak. A very weak woman. I don't want to be but when it comes to Muhammad I am unable to 'stand on business' as Hafsa said. I had called her the next day after everything and she said I should give him a chance but make him work for it. I don't know how to do that.
Yesterday I woke up feeling lighter than I had in weeks. I made breakfast and we all ate on the dining together. Inayah entertained us as we ate but his eyes were on me throughout. I felt like he was slowly undressing me with the way he stared at me like I was exposed to his eyes. There was so much tension brimming around us.
We moved to the living room to watch the new paw patrol movie Inayah had been talking about for so long. She sat on her favorite armchair and I moved to sit on the one next to her but Muhammad dragged me to sit next to him.
He sat me down so close to him that my thigh was pressed against his. He made it worse when he dropped one hand to rest on my thigh and I couldn't concentrate on the movie because all I could feel was his hand that was had moved to the gap between my thighs.
I could barely stop myself. Especially when he kissed me goodnight at my door before he walked towards his, leaving me staring longingly at him. But I had to stand on business apparently.
Now we are heading to Mami's house because she invited us for lunch. His hand keeps moving from the gear shift to my lap all the way to the house.
Inayah is in the back with Jamila as she plays on her iPad. When we pull into the familiar compound I feel nostalgic. I miss this place being home but my home is now with the two people in this car.
Inayah barely waits until he parks before she's opening the door and running towards the door. Muhammad looks so shocked at her behavior but I just shake my head.
"That's why I have a child lock on my car." I tell him as I step out and follow behind the little gremlin as she bursts into the house.
I can hear Asma screaming from upstairs as she heads towards the stairs.
"My babies! My babies!" She yells as she barrels down the stairs. She picks up Inayah and hugs her to her chest then head a towards me and envelopes me in a hug with Inayah between us.
"You missed me haka ne?" I tease as I hug her back.
"I'm not even going to deny it. I miss having you so close." She says as she sets Inayah on her feet.
"I'm not that far away." I shrug.
"You used to be a door away from me. Now my brother has taken you from me. They never let me keep anything I swear." She pouts.
I feel him before I hear him. "My wife is not a pet."
Asma squeals then rushes towards him and hugs him too. He pats her on the back as she hugs him.
"I missed you too Yaya." She says when he doesn't say anything to her.
"I know." He nods and Asma gasps dramatically while I laugh at their interaction. "Where's Mami?" He asks.
"She should be in the kitchen." She says then grabs my hand pulls me towards the kitchen.
The aroma of Mami's shepherds pie hits me as we step into the kitchen. Inayah is already in her arms as she chatters to her.
"Madeenah!" She rushes to me when we step in and engulfs me in a hug.
I sink into her as her warmth wraps around me. I haven't felt my mother's touch since I was 10 but this came pretty close.
