Chapter Thirty

I motioned for everyone to make their way to the office, intending to tell Lexi to go find Jess. However, I should have known that she would want to be a part of this conversation, considering that Zachary is after her. As we walked, Lexi led the way while I followed behind. She exemplified all the qualities I hoped for in a Luna. The Moon Goddess truly blessed me and my pack.

Once we reached the office, we gathered around the conference table, which still had the big map on it. I decided to leave it out so that we could easily track Zach's movements. Lexi sat to my right, and Daniel sat to my left. Jared was on the other side of Daniel, and Liam was on the other side of Lexi. My uncle sat directly across from me and spoke first.

"I can see that you've been busy. I remember Zachary being in all those locations. I wanted him to visit different packs to observe how other Alphas conducted their business. Since he's also a skilled warrior, he even assisted some packs with training during his visits. I've heard rumors that he's somewhere on the west coast. We don't have significant connections over there, so I can't tell you exactly where he might be. We've tried tracking him through his phone and credit cards, but we haven't found anything."

"We do know that he's working with a witch. I assume he found one while he was in New Orleans. We have our own witch here who has detected traces of magic on a few occasions. I can only assume that they're using some kind of cloaking spell."

I watched as my uncle shook his head, disappointment evident in his eyes. Growing up, I would never have believed that Zach would be capable of this. He was always focused on taking over the Alpha position from his father. He attended all the Alpha training sessions during the summers when we were in high school, even staying a few extra weeks to train with me, despite living in a different state. What led him down this path?

I was brought back to reality when Lexi placed her hand on my arm. I responded by placing my hand over hers and giving her a small smile. I couldn't wait for her Luna ceremony, when we would be able to communicate through our mind link. For now, I found solace in her touch and scent, which instantly relaxed me. I kissed her cheek and breathed in her scent, feeling immediate calm. We had a few hours until dinner, and we still hadn't had quality time alone, just the three of us. Suddenly, an idea struck me.

"Everyone except Lexi and Liam, you're dismissed. Uncle, I'm sure Dad would love to catch up. Daniel and Jared, you can go do whatever you usually do during the day. I'm going to take Lexi and Liam around the territory, show them the pack hospital, and so on."

Everyone nodded and went their separate ways. Lexi leaned against the conference table, while Liam plopped down on the love seat. Lexi and I didn't train, and she hadn't shifted in a few days. I felt Max stir in the back of my mind. He had been quiet for the past few days.

'We could always go for a run through the territory.'

'You just want to see Lily and Logan.'

'Only fair since you get to see Lexi and Liam all the time. We want to see our wolf mate too.'

I couldn't help but roll my eyes, but he did have a point. Our wolf counterparts are able to grow a stronger bond with each other since they can communicate even if we aren't in wolf form. A run didn't sound bad to me either.

"How do you guys feel about running through the territory? Max wants to see Lily and Logan, and I am sure he will bug me until that happens now."

I watched as both of their eyes flashed to their wolf sides. Clearly, Lily and Logan were in agreement. I could hear Max chuckling in my head, but I chose to ignore him. I guess it was decided. I linked Jared and Daniel, letting them know we would be going for a run. I wanted us to have our space, but for them to be close enough. I wasn't taking any chances. I also wanted them to make sure there were plenty of clothes in the bin at the hospital. That will be our first stop.
