Starstruck Melody (Completed)

Chapter 24

Mabilis lang lumipas ang mga araw at dumating na ang araw na pinaka-iintay ko. I stood in front of the mirror, admiring my reflection. I am wearing my birthday dress, a red halter neck that hugs my curves perfectly. My hair cascaded in loose waves down my back.

Manipis lang ang pinalagay kong make-up kay Julie para natural lang tingnan. Ayaw ko rin ng makapal na make up kasi mabigat 'yon sa mukha.

"Okay na, ma'am," usal ni Julie nang matapos niya akong lagyan ng setting spray.

I thanked her and put on my earrings when a knock on the door interrupted us. "Come in," I voiced out.

Umawang ang pinto at sumilip doon si Tita Ara. Ngumiti ako nang makita siya. "Tita, nandito na pala kayo. Kasama niyo ba si Doc Luis?" tanong ko sa kanya at nag beso.

She nodded her head. "Yeah, actually kakarating lang rin naman. Pumunta lang ako dito para sa sabihin na magsisimula na ang party mo. Inaantay ka na nila sa loob."

I smiled at her. "Thank you, Tita. Don't worry susunod na ako doon," sagot ko sa kanya at inayos ang hikaw ko nang makalabas siya.

Kinuha ko ang cellphone ko sa may vanity mirror at chineck ang guest list na sinend sa akin ni Tita Ara kagabi. Tumango ako nang makitang halos lahat ng kakilala ko ay nandoon at wala namang naligaw na hindi ko gustong makita.

Feeling anxious, I guided myself through the hotel’s elegant corridors toward the Grand Ballroom. Habang papalapit ako sa pinto ay naririnig ko na ang usapan ng mga bisita at tunog ng mga baso.

A smile appeared on my face when the door swung open, and a wave of applause and cheers welcomed me.

Walang mapagsidlan ang saya ko sa mga oras na 'yon.  I scanned my eyes around the venue and sighed in relief when the ballroom was beautifully decorated, exactly as I had envisioned. The soft pastel colors, twinkling fairy lights, and elegant centerpieces created a magical atmosphere.

I made my way to the stage, feeling a surge of confidence. Nang makarating ako sa gitna ay kinuha ko ang microphone at masuyong ngumiti sa mga bisita.

"Thank you all for being here tonight. Your support and love mean the world to me. Feel free po to eat all of the food na hinanda ko para sa inyo."

Habang nagsasalita ako ay napatingin ako sa pintuan nang muling magbukas 'yon. I halted when my father entered, bringing an unexpected surprise. Her mom and Samantha followed closely behind.

I gulped the lumped on my throat and continued my speech, determined not to let their presence ruin the evening. "I hope you all enjoy the night as much as I will. Thank you again for coming."

Pagkaalis ko sa unahan ay dumiretso ako sa direksyon kung nasaan sila Daddy. I purposely didn't invite my Mom and Samantha because I don't want them to ruin my birthday.  Hindi ko naman alam isasama pala sila ni Daddy.

"Happy birthday, sweetheart," bati ni Daddy sa akin nang makalapit ako. He pulled me into a warm embrace and kissed the top of my head. "I brought you something special," bulong niya sa akin.

Kumawala ako sa yakap niya nang iabot niya sa akin ang regalo niya.

"Open it," utos niya sa akin.

Sinunod ko naman agad 'yon at nanlaki ang mata ko nang makita ang regalo niya. It was a stunning Chanel dress inside. "Dad, this is gorgeous! Thank you so much.   Sa London niyo ba 'to binili?"

He nodded and I pulled him for a hug. I glanced at my mom and Samantha, who stood awkwardly nearby. Dahil ayaw ko sirain ang gabi ko ay hilaw akong ngumiti sa kanilang dalawa. They really looked like the best mother and daughter.
