Chapter 29

"Tita, I'm sorry. I know I promised not to go on public muna," paliwanag ko kay Tita Ara nang makabalik kami sa hotel.

Tumawag kasi ito kaagad pagkatapos mag viral ang picture ko sa ig ni Xav. Tapos ngayon ay kalat na ang media sa La Union.

"It's okay, Serena. Wala na tayong magagawa diyan. Isa pa, si Xavier naman ang nagdesisyon niyan. Why don't the two of you held a press conference?"

Natigilan ako. "You think we can do that na, Tita? I mean...hindi pa gano'n katagal simula no'ng nagkabalikan kami," nag aalinlangan kong sagot.

I know Xav loves me, and we're sure of each other this time. But, it's too early for us to reveal our relationship. I kinda want it to be more private this time.

Liningon ko ang boyfriend kong prenteng nakahiga sa kama niya. He grinned at me and posed a peace sign. I took a deep breath and rolled my eyes at him.

Pagkatapos ng tawag namin ni Tita Ara ay naiinis akong lumapit sa kanya at hinampas siya. "Why did you do that?!" singhal ko sa kanya.

He innocently looked at me. "What? I just posted my girlfriend."

I glared at him. "I know! But didn't we promised Tita na lie-low muna tayo?"

He shrugged his shoulders. "Ikaw lang nag promise no'n."

Padabog akong naglakad palayo sa kanya at dumiretso ng bathroom para maligo. It's already nine in the evening and we're not yet having our dinner because of what he did.

Nang matapos ako maligo ay nag pa-room service na lang kami ng pagkain. Paano ba naman kami makakalabas e kahit sa hotel meron na rin mga nakachecked in na reporters.

"This is your fault," reklamo ko kay Xav nang mapilitan kaming umalis ng maaga para pumunta sa Tangadan Falls. Inaantok pa ako pero kinailangan namin gumising maaga para makaalis kami nang walang humahabol sa amin.

Para na rin wala kaming maabutan na mga tao doon dahil off peak hours kami pupunta. The drive through the countryside was scenic, with lush greenery and rolling hills on either side.

"This place is incredible," I said while we're in the car. I looked at him and found him smiling..

"It's even better experiencing it with you."

After an hour, we arrived at the starting point for the hike to Tangadan Falls. Pinark muna namin ang kotse bago kinuha ang dala naming backpacks with our essential. The trailhead was marked, and we began our journey through the forest, following the path that wound its way towards the falls.

Nakakapagod 'yon pero dahil sariwa ang hangin at malamig ay nawawala ang pagod na nararamdaman ko. Maya-maya pa ay narinig ko na ang tunog ng umaagos na tubig sa di kalayuan. Mas lalo 'yong lumakas kaya alam kong malapit na rin kami.

My mouth gaped open when I saw the water cascaded down from a height, crashing into a clear pool below surrounded by rocks and lush vegetation. The falls were a picture of untouched natural beauty, and the sound of the rushing water was both powerful and soothing.

"Wow," I breathed, taking in the scene. "It's even more beautiful than I imagined."

Nakita kong tumango si Xav, nakatutok ang mata sa falls. "Definitely worth the hike."

It really is. Nilagay namin ang dala naming bag sa malaking bato malapit. Luckily, kami pa lang ang tao kaya malaya kaming mag enjoy dito ngayon. Hinubad namin ang sapatos na suot at naghubad ng damit.

I was already wearing a two piece under my clothes kaya ayos lang sa akin maghubad. I dipped my toes into the water, testing the temperature. I slightly shivered when I felt the coldness of the water, but still decided to wade in.
