I sat outside Pierce's office in my uniform. Steve was inside for questioning.

I played with a buckle on my pants and thought about what had happened recently.

The soldier.

I had seen him before.

He had interrupted a mission Nat and I had been on once. I still had a scar from the bullet he had shot through me. Immediately, he had shot another bullet through Nat in the same place.

I shivered at the thought and rested my head on the wall behind me. Sharon walked down the hall towards me. She sat next to me and took a deep breath in. Her office clothes threw me off and reminded me that she wasn't the nurse that lived next door. She was an agent. An agent that was in charge of babysitting not only Steve, but also Me as well.

"Pierce wants to question you." Sharon said, resting her head on the wall. I laughed and looked at her.

"That sucks." I shook my head and looked up at the ceiling.

"What should I tell him?" Sharon asked, already knowing that I would tell her no to a meeting with Pierce.

Keeping my voice calm I looked over at Sharon and spoke plainly "If he wants to keep Stark tech in project insight, then I will not be going into questioning."

Sharon looked at me for a moment with shock before her expression changed to one of understanding.

"Okay. Sounds good to me." She said, getting up and walking away. I rolled my eyes at the thought of going into questioning. I know Steve felt like he was obligated to but it was not a mutual feeling.

The door next to me swung open. I looked over and saw Steve walking out, behind him stood a glaring Pierce. Steve looked just as stressed as earlier. I stood up and followed Steve in silence to the elevator. He pushed the button and stood to look out the window next to us.

"Home?" I asked, grabbing his hand in an attempt to calm him.

"Yes, right after I stop for something in operations control." Steve smiled down at me.

The doors opened and revealed an empty elevator. I entered first and commanded the AI to take us to our destination. Steve grabbed the hand rail and looked out through the glass panes.

"Are you okay?" I asked as the doors started to shut. A hand swiped between them before they could fully close.

My strike team walked in discussing the last order I had given them. I looked over at Steve and he nodded reassuringly before mouthing, "I'm fine."

"Cap. Stark." Rumlow greeted. We both turned and greeted them. The elevator started to move down, causing me to stand close to Steve and grip the handrailing.

"Evidence Response found some fibers on the roof they want us to see. You want me to get the tac-team ready?" Rumlow asked both Steve and I. Something about his voice seemed off. I looked down at my feet and tried to pinpoint what was different.

"No, let's wait and see what it is first." I answered, looking up for his reaction.

"Right." Rumlow turned away from us. I kept my eyes on the back of his head and observed his posture.

The elevator stopped again and let some logistic agents in. Steve and I shuffled to make more room for them but they forced us in the middle. I looked up and could see Steve thought something was off as well. I grabbed his hand and tapped it in a nervous manner. Steve looked down at me and we shared a look of understanding.

"I'm sorry about what happened with Fury. Messed up, what happened to him." Rumlow said, making me sure that something was happening now.

"Thank you." Steve said curtly, glaring at the back of his head. I felt Steve pull me closer and hug me. He rested his head next to my ear and kissed my temple. I looked up at him in confusion.
