Muskan almari ke upar wale shelf se dhool hata rahi thi. Usne agli raat jo sapne mein dekha tha woh abhi bhi uske zehen se nahi gaya tha. Woh janti thi jo woh Zayn ke liye mehsoos kar rahi thi woh sirf ek pasand nahi thi. Uske haathon mein ek purana kapda tha, aur woh badi ehtiyaat se har cheez ko saaf kar rahi thi. Tabhi ek tasveer neeche gir gayi. Tasveer ke girne ki awaaz ne use ek pal ke liye rok diya. Woh dheere se neeche jhuki aur us tasveer ko uthaya.
Tasveer par dhool ki ek moti parat thi. Muskan ne apne dupatte ke kone se dhool saaf karna shuru kiya. Jaise hi tasveer saaf hui, uski aankhen uspar jam gayi. Tasveer mein ek chhoti si ladki thi, takreeban ek saal ki, jo hans rahi thi. Uske paas ek aadmi tha, jo use mohabbat se dekh raha tha. Muskan ka dil ek ajeeb si kasak mehsoos karne laga.
"Yeh kaun hai?" usne dheere se apne aap se pucha.
Tasveer ko gaur se dekhte hue, uski nazar us chhoti ladki par tiki. Woh ladki woh khud thi—chhoti, masoom, aur muskurati hui. Shayad yeh uska birthday tha. Magar us aadmi ka chehra? Uska chehra muskan ke liye ajnabi tha, dhundla tha, waqt ki dhool uspar chadh chuki thi.
"Abu honge shayad..." Muskan ne socha, lekin yeh khayal uske dil mein ek ajeeb sa bojh daal gaya. "Lekin... woh mujhe aise pyar se kyun dekh rahe hain? Unhe toh meri mojudgi bhi pasand nahi hai. Agar unhe pehle itni mohabbat thi, toh ab sab kuch badal kyun gaya?"
Tasveer ko haathon mein lekar Muskan kuch der tak us par nazar jamaye rahi. Usne photo ko ulta kar ke dekha, shayad peeche koi date ya likhawat ho, lekin kuch bhi nahi tha. Safed kaghaz ka ek tukda uske sawalon ka jawab nahi de sakta tha.
Usne ek gehri saans li, Phir dheere se photo ko apni kitaab ke beech rakha.
