"Oh, (Y/N)-san, congratulations!" Mitsuri cheered whilst hugging her tightly after all of the formal announcements, everyone else just mingling about. "I'm so happy you decided to become a Hashira! That means—! That means... I get to spend more time with you..."

She mumbled the last part, but (Y/N) heard.

Obanai heard as well.

He frowned.

"Whatever, get off me, pinky," she grumbled as she tried to maneuver out of Mitsuri's grasp, the Love Hashira only giggling at the other's rather tsundere-like ways.

Mitsuri knew that (Y/N) wasn't as rigid, crude, or as aggressive as she initially came off as, having a softer side that she normally didn't show to anyone. She knew this mostly in part because of the expressions that she made when she thought she was alone, or the way her lips tilted upward ever so slightly into a smile when someone showed her affection or praise. If anything, Mitsuri only knew that (Y/N) put a wall up because of something painful in her past, and while she wanted to know what since she wanted to know everything about her, she didn't dig any farther.

She didn't want to destroy her relationship with the explosive girl.

She never wanted that.

"I don't know why you try with her, Kanroji-san," Obanai glowered at (Y/N) who returned the look, his heterochromatic eyes narrowing at the sight. "She's never going to change."

"The hell is that supposed to mean?"

"It means that these little... temper tantrums of yours will push away everything and everyone," he emphasized, his snake hissing on his shoulder with his fangs bared at her. "It means that such actions will get those around you killed, if not just yourself. It means that you are not worthy to be a Hashira."

"I-Iguro-san!" Mitsuri's eyes widened at the man's rather harsh words.

"No, snake boy's right, pinky," (Y/N) scowled at him as her grip tightened on the hilt of her katana, the blade still broken since she had yet to receive her new sword. "My actions probably will get people killed. I can't help that. But you know what? My actions will also save people. Just like you, just like any other Hashira here... you can't save everyone when a situation concerns a demon. No matter what you do, no matter how strong you are, it's just a fact. So stop acting as if that's all on me."

"That's true, yes, but what I am talking about is how your unrefined arrogance can get your own comrades killed," Obanai hissed, his eyes flickering to Mitsuri behind (Y/N). "I bet if one of us were killed, you wouldn't care. I bet if a family out there gets killed, you wouldn't care. You would just continue to act like this with no remorse."
