Hantengu screeched as his head and body started to turn to ash, yelling about how he didn't deserve to die but instead deserved sympathy, rushing out that never once had he lied or done anything bad even though (Y/N) knew that he had probably committed dozens of crimes before he was a demon and many more after. When he finally was gone, she turned back to the rest of the Upper Moons, Gyokko and Daki visibly flinching since they knew that if she could behead Hantengu, she could certainly do the same to them. Gyutaro, while being weaker than Hantengu, didn't so much as budge as he stared at (Y/N), the grip on his kamas tightening.

"Ya see?" She scowled as she gestured with her head toward where Hantengu had died. "You can't defeat me."

Their eyes flicked to the Mark on her neck.

That was it.

That was the trigger that allowed (Y/N) more than enough strength.

Before any of them could even move, Kokushibo appeared before (Y/N) with his sword drawn—a weapon which looked to be made from his flesh with eyes centered along the blade—all with the intent to slice through her body. His movements were dignified with not one being unnecessary or slow, his speed and strength inhumane for even a demon. Yet, she still deflected his attack all the same, even if it was just barely.

"The hell?" She scowled at him.

"You are already destined to die..." he uttered as he flicked his sword downward, one hand on the top of his scabbard. "...because of that Mark on your neck... you will die."

Placing her hand against the warmth of her skin, (Y/N) felt nothing, but she knew that Kokushibo must have been right about there being a Mark on her due to the fact that every other demon had been looking there as well. And if it was anything like she thought, this Mark strengthened a Demon Slayer in return for most of their life. She had already noticed that she had gotten stronger, had gotten faster, and as she stared at Kokushibo in hatred, her heart hammering in her ear, something flashed before her eyes that made her blink repeatedly.

What?

What the fuck... was that?

Kokushibo could see the shift in (Y/N), could see her staring intently at his body, and asked, "Since you have awakened your Mark, are you also able to access the Transparent World?"

"Was that what it was...?" She mumbled under her breath.

It must be.

His heart, his bones, his muscle contractions...
