"I do not normally train just anyone, as you know that we Pillars are busy," Gyomei said as he lead both (Y/N) and Genya—who she realized wasn't his Tsuguko but instead more of a mentee—deeper into the forest behind his house. "We protect our assigned regions, gather information on demons, and improve our own swordsmanship. That is why we only train our successors. But for you, I will make the exception."

"Why?" She asked, brushing aside a branch that stuck out in the middle of her path.

"Because I sense something in you that I think is worth training," he answered vaguely, not elaborating further on the fact even when she pushed him for more information.

Genya stayed silent the entire time.

He couldn't believe it.

He couldn't believe a girl so beautiful was merely a few feet ahead of him.

He cursed himself internally for being the stuttering and stumbling mess that he was when he had first greeted her, letting out silent sigh after sigh whilst wishing that he could turn back time just so he could redo that moment. From her introduction, he knew that (Y/N) was a Hashira just like Gyomei, yet what confused him was why she wanted to train with him in the first place.

Wasn't she just as strong?

Of course, Genya knew that there were always points were even Hashira could improve in basic swordsmanship and stamina.

So maybe that's just what it is...

But why?

"My training is very simple," Gyomei began as they stopped at where a roaring waterfall was, (Y/B) instantly feeling a sense of apprehension build up when seeing it. "I focus on the limbs, the core—what stabilizes the body. It will lead you to accurate attacks and indefatigable defense. First, train by having the waterfall beat you... then carry three logs on your shoulders... finally, push this rock through a town. Simple, see? It's just those three things."

The water was cold.

The logs and boulder were huge.

Staring at what Gyomei called 'easy,' (Y/N) then turned to Genya to see if the Hashira was serious, only resulting in him blushing furiously and looking away immediately. Letting out a sigh, she shed her Haori and folded it neatly before setting it on a nearby rock. Taking off the outerwear of her Corps uniform until she was just in the undershirt—Genya's blush becoming even more intense if that was possible—she cracked her neck and stretched to limber up before discarding her shoes next to her clothes and stepping in the water.
