Chapter 5

The short weekend quickly passed, and in the blink of an eye, it was Monday.

As Lu Yao walked into the classroom with his backpack, he saw Huang Li sitting at his desk with a smug, self-satisfied look. His desk mate, Lin Gejie, was glaring angrily at Huang Li beside him.

Although the other classmates appeared to be focused on their own tasks, their attention was clearly on Lu Yao and the situation unfolding.

Lu Yao stood in front of his seat, looking down at Huang Li. His voice was so cold it seemed to drop icicles, "Get up."

Huang Li had intended to mock Lu Yao with a few taunts, but upon seeing Lu Yao's icy stare, he involuntarily shrank back.

Realizing he was actually afraid of this poor kid, Huang Li felt both humiliated and angry, but the thought of Lu Yao's imminent fate quickly brightened his mood again.

Seeing Huang Li still not vacating his seat, Lu Yao, growing impatient, kicked the desk and chair, "Move."

Faced with this, Huang Li, afraid that Lu Yao might hit him in the classroom, quickly stood up and left Lu Yao's seat. As he left, he couldn't resist turning back and gloating loudly, "Lu Yao, you're in big trouble. Principal Chen wants you in his office right now."

As soon as Lu Yao sat down, Lin Gejie spoke anxiously, "Yao, it seems like Huang Li's family pulled some strings. Before you arrived, he was bragging in the class that Old Chen Pi is definitely going to expel you from the school today."

Old Chen Pi was a nickname given to Principal Chen by the students who disliked him. Despite being called the principal, Chen was actually the vice-principal, but he disliked being referred to as such, so everyone omitted the "vice." Old Chen Pi was notorious for his snobbery. Since the actual principal was away on an exchange program, all school matters were left to Old Chen Pi, making Huang Li's claims particularly concerning.

Lu Yao nodded, put his backpack in the drawer, and then left the classroom to go to Old Chen Pi's office.

Huang Li's parents had brought an injury report to Old Chen Pi, claiming that Huang Li was being bullied by Lu Yao at school. Despite the lack of evidence, Old Chen Pi, the vice-principal, readily believed their story. After ensuring that Lu Yao would be punished as they wished, Huang Li had his parents leave. Then, Old Chen Pi instructed Huang Li to call Lu Yao to the office.

Being called by the vice-principal, Lu Yao's homeroom teacher, Old Liu, naturally had to come and understand what was happening.

Hearing that Principal Chen wanted to expel Lu Yao, Teacher Liu immediately objected, "Principal Chen, isn't this decision a bit hasty? How can you conclude that Lu Yao hit him just based on Huang Li's injury report?"

Upon hearing Teacher Liu's objection, Old Chen Pi glared at him sinisterly, "Teacher Liu, watch who you're talking to. When I say expulsion, I mean expulsion. The parents even showed me a video of Lu Yao hitting Huang Li. How can that be fake?"

Huang Li had somehow gotten hold of surveillance footage from their first fight and maliciously edited together clips of himself getting hit, making it look like Lu Yao was indeed bullying him.

Old Chen Pi played the video on his computer, indicating for Teacher Liu to watch.

After watching the video, Teacher Liu frowned but, considering his understanding of Lu Yao, couldn't help but say, "Principal Chen, this video alone isn't conclusive evidence. Videos can be edited, and some scenes in this video don't seem continuous. Shouldn't we investigate further?"
