"So what's planned for the rest of our school day?" asked Summer, strolling with her family, a smile on her lips; after everything she'd been put through, all the heartbreak and pain, it was finally over. "You know, other than helping out where needed," she added with a small bout of laughter when Aleister ran past with Cross hot on his heels. The latter was laughing like a maniac and practically bouncing off the walls.
At the same time, Drew was carrying Nikki as if she were his bride, the heel of her shoe having snapped off just minutes prior. Summer's smile only grew upon looking around, seeing how everything seemed to have gone back to how it once was. Dean, Seth, and Echo soon reappeared, laughing about something. Dean, with his arm, slung over Echo's shoulders, Seth holding her hand as if all the drama and heartbreak between them had been erased. The lunatic soon untangled himself from the duo, all but tackling Renee in a hug upon reaching her.
"We've got the exams to prepare for," called Brie, her own laughter escaping her glossy lips upon hearing the collective ugh in response to the reminder. "And the finals of the tournaments, but if that's not fun enough, then prom comes up," she added, thinking about the big event for the first time since she left her old group of friends behind and broke up with Daniel. They'd always talked about going together, but now the event was fast approaching, she'd barely thought about it or who she was going with, let alone what she was going to wear.
"It's decided. Us ladies are going dress shopping," called Maryse. Now, she had rejoined the group with Carmella in tow. Surprisingly to most, both girls had managed to coax Serenity from their hiding place, offering her to join them until she found where she truly belonged, as they would do for any student looking for their place. "Where are the Darklings?" she asked, noticing the group of dark ones missing again, although some peace was brought to her upon seeing Aleister, Nikki, and Echo still among the group.
"Finn and Damian are trying to convince Rhea not to throttle Dom," called JD upon rejoining the group too. "I'd admit I tried to convince them to let her go," he admitted, even more so upon realizing what was going on between Liv and Dom, Rhea to having twigged, hence her very sudden bout of fury. "Solve one lot of relationship drama and end up with the Darkling version," he added, tapping his phone several times to alert the present darklings of the group chat messages.
"Oof, that bad," spoke Aleister, coming to a stop a few meters ahead of everyone else. "Let her go. He'll soon learn not to do it again," added the teenager known as the Devil, a wicked smile gracing his lips as he offered Serenity a small wave.
"You darklings have an odd way of fixing things," began Corey, "Although I'd admit it would solve the problem," he added after spending a few seconds dwelling on it.
"Have you met our dear Mami? It's better to let her loose to deal with the problem than let her stew on it," asked Cross, her maniac laughter following along shortly after. This brought a smile to JD, who'd previously had concern etched on his features. "Besides, Dom Dom did something unforgivable to Rhea; in her mind, there's no fixing that," she added with a small smile, knowing although the Darkling way was unusual to those on the outside, it did work and often strengthened the existing bonds.
"Huh, maybe we should have let Summer loose on Roman," commented Punk, hearing Summer click her tongue at the thought, "Would have solved the problem sooner and would have helped Serenity here too," he added as if imagining a domino effect happening. Either way, Roman's downfall would have happened, his own stupidity having caused it and his belief he was better than everyone else.
"Anyways, back to the previous subject," Drew said upon the group's arrival at the bleachers on the sports fields. There, he placed Nikki down on the many benches, a soft smile on his lips. "Cinderella, will you go to the ball with me?" Nikki could only blush. Although she'd thought about prom, she hadn't imagined being asked to go with someone; instead, she'd happily settle for going with her girls.
