Some Hermit Hybrid Headcanons

Ooo, tongue twister?

I'm still getting a grasp for not only the Hermits themselves, but also how the community perceives them and making my own conclusions from there. Therefore, this will be getting updated every now and then as I grow more confident in my understanding and just learn more stuff in general XD

Anyway here's a few for now–

Imma start with Grian.

Now, while he's the Hermit I primarily watch, I'm not all that well–versed in exact Watcher Lore, so I can't say much on it. So I'll focus on his being an Avian. Something I made up early on is this stupid saying (cuz I thought it sounded smart at the time): 'not all Avians are Watchers, but all Watchers are Avians' and so it's at least fairly common for a Watcher to have wings. Grian's a parrot Avian. A quick google search says that he'd be a Scarlet Macaw. For the most part, he looks normal, but he's got taloned feet, the wings(of course✨😌), and a tail. He also has sharp nails, but he files those down so he doesn't hurt people when he reaches for something. He's on the short side(he's still taller than I am 💀) and uses this and his hollow bird bones to his advantage, perching on people's shoulders(often Mumbo or Scar). He can see colors on the UV spectrum, but he also struggles with some depth perception and cannot see normal glass. He can see the color of tinted glass, the darker or more blatant the better, which has led to Hermits often incorporating the tinted glass in their builds to prevent him from accidentally flying into them. He doesn't need to use Elytra, but in servers where Hybrids need to hide their traits or other such restrictions, he's taught himself how to use them anyway. He's a skilled flier, and prefers bigger spaces than closed–in, tight ones. He's working on that though, and he feels more comfortable walking into those small, confined places if he chooses to walk in, and can easily get out if he needs to. (Imma be honest, I just googled a bunch of stuff on parrots and what they can do so I based a bunch of it all on that)

Mumbo next?

Sure.

First and foremost, I'm a sucker for Vampire Mumbo, so that is what he is. I will add in my earlier stated vampire idea (see 'That One Stupid Vampire Theory I have'), where there's a sort of cryostasis effect on the body, a sort of internal function that while it does not hinder his movements, it prevents his skin from rotting or his organs failing. He never really found blood all that appealing, (part of his 'Peace, Love, and Plants idea in Season 8) however, his heart beats slower than a normal human's, just enough to keep the blood flowing through his brain. If he bleeds out, he won't be given more blood, and his brain will suffer a lack of oxygen. That's where the 'blood-drinking' aspect of a vampire comes in: in order to keep fresh, oxygen-full blood in his body, he needs the blood of other people. Usually, he goes about this from animal blood. Sometimes, someone will offer to donate a little for him if he looks extra tired or weak. Another thing is, Mumbo is immune to disease or poison, much like Cleo. Being technically 'dead' and the way his body works in general, he's impervious to illnesses. As far as we know. I also know some people like to give vampires red eyes, but Mumbo's eyes appear to be black. I personally see a sort of deep, dark garnet color when I look at them, though why I'm not exactly sure. But that's the actual color of his eyes, people just think his eyes are black. Mumbo does not like the sun, but he can manage it for a little bit. After a while, however, he'll start to warm up, losing that cryo layer, and his body will start to decompose, so much like Marceline from Adventure Time, he will wear hats and long-sleeves clothing, hence the suit.

I'll do Cleo, now.

So. She's a zombie. But not exactly as far gone as they are. Zombies won't attack her, she can mimic the moans and gurgles or whatever they're called that actual zombies can make, but she's also still human, so it's arguable that she's a hybrid. Like Mumbo, the dead aspects of her body mean she can't fall to disease or poison, and while she doesn't take damage from healing or regen potions, they do sting. She has a very keen sense of smell, and has stitches across herself where she's had to fix herself. As a result, she's good at helping others with injuries that need to be stitched together, she's able to enjoy the Sun from her human side, and can also eat human food, though her digestive system responds more kindly to raw steaks and meat.

I can't think of much else right now, but I bet it'll come to me.

And how about Doc?

I have/had some very specific ideas I set in place for him, and I'm doing this all from memory so I may have forgotten some😅

So Doc's commonly a mix between a goat and a creeper, with robotic parts, right? Well. He has the big, curled ram horns(reminiscent of Schlatt) and ears, and his nose is sorta goatish(I just suck at drawing it lol). His actual skin is green, but also, it's sorta thick, causing it to be more blast-resistant. It'll still cut like normal skin, but it takes a bit more effort. While I don't know how to explain how he got his robotic parts, given his skill with redstone, he's made them himself. Powered by redstone and very complicated, he's somehow connected it to be specifically designed for his body. For excess features beyond their base functions, he has a set of buttons to trigger them. His red eye can double as a flashlight, for example. I mentioned this in my DSMP/OSMP hybrid headcanons, but I imagine that all creeper hybrids produce a gunpowder smoke that they exhale as they breathe. Unfortunately, it's not only an awful smell to be around, but there's so much of it, it makes it hard for people to breathe around him. To combat this, Doc has made a device that penetrates the back of his neck, filtering the smoke and releasing it in small bursts. Another part to this is that instead of simply exploding, a creeper hybrid has these special teeth in the back of their mouths that can swing inwards, strike against one another, and create spark. The iconic hissing noise is caused by them gathering enough smoke to create a sufficient blast. They also have forked tongues, which helps them to direct the explosion. If he wants to create a blast, there's a button on his palm that temporarily deactivates the filter device. There's a lot of little tune-ups that happen to his arm.

I shall try Tango!

So to my understanding, he doesn't want any sort of like, demon features. Understandable. So I'm not sure if tails count, but instead of horns, I would imagine he has a tail. Not to keep any demon theme, but like a Charmander, that flame sorta resembles his life. It doesn't kill him if it's doused with water(so he can swim and stuff) or smothered in a blanket(it'd probably set the blanket on fire). It's usually kept up or curled around his feet, but while it's usually a small, flickery flame, if he's alarmed or upset, the flame can blaze more intensely. His eyes are red, and the pupils sorta look like Toothless' when he's tamed and they grow big. He's a hybrid with some sort of pyro entity, which I'm too lazy to decide(feel free to suggest), so he has sharp canines and pointed ears. While he has a higher resistance to heat, he can still burn so it's not like he can jump into a fire or lava or anything. In addition to the higher heat resistance, he's just naturally warmer than normal to the touch. His clothes are made specifically for him, fireproof so his tail doesn't accidentally set them aflame. When he does the Deepfrost Dungeon Master skin, I imagine that was actually like, the blue fire, (the ones you get when you set fire to Soul Sand) but instead of being hot, the flames were cold, so he also got cold easily. Hence the big, fur-lined coat(but also, IT WAS JUST REALLY COOL LOOKING)

And that's all for now. Again, these will be under edit a lot, and if I did something wrong or you want to add to these or offer ideas, I'm all ears :)
