Chapter thirteen - Dawn

''Happy new year!'' 2006 was finally over, I was leaving everything that happened this year behind me as I welcomed 2007 with open arms. This is my year. The year I become the best version of myself there could ever be.

''Omg, I can't believe we are almost done with our second year of college!'' Sam said and shook my shoulders. It's strange that we have 'just' started college and yet it feels like we've been here for years. I laughed and raised a toast. ''To us, the future scientists. And to you, my best
friend.'' She hugged me tightly and I was so happy. 2,5 years left of college before we were to become marine scientists exploring the ocean and its' habitat.

Me and Sam have grown inseparable, hell we even live together now in a studio apartment with a loft space. It's a little annoying when she takes home guys and I have to hear her moan all night long, but other than that it's a blast. But tonight, was my turn to have fun, the last time I slept with a guy was almost 2 years ago, and well. We all know how that ended.

''Hey Dawn! Let's light some more fireworks'' Dan was waving me over and I hurried along. ''Happy new year, Dan'' Me and Sam hung out a lot with Dans' friends who are studying with us. Well, luckily for me Dan is a great guy. And
he's also good looking, he's tall, olive skin and chocolate-colored eyes. And he always smells like leather and a touch of cognac. But mostly, I don't go to school with him so maybe he would be the perfect guy to have a one-night stand with. Right? 'Happy new years to you too.'' he said and guided me over to the bag of fireworks.

''A big, or a small one?'' He held up two options and of course I was picking the big one. We placed it on the yard and ran away as it was about to shoot up to the sky. The bang was loud, but the aftermath was stunning. The sky was painted blue and red, and as I was looking up at the colorful sky, I felt a warm hand on my shoulder.

Dan turned me around and placed my face in his hands, he looked at me and his dark eyes shone bright of blue and red.
He pulled me closer and kissed me, and gosh his lips were soft and sweet. His hands firm, and as he pulled me in his arms my heart melted. He tasted like beer and a touch of honey. And as the fireworks shed its last stray of light, he pulled me away and smiled at me. ''You look beautiful'' he said, I could feel my cheeks turning red and my heart pump blood faster than it has done for a long time.

But our moment didn't last long, there was Sam and she was gasping. Jaw down to the ground, and as she came up to me, she just jumped up
and down. ''OMG! Dawn, we have to go!'' She started pulling my arm and I was so choked I just stood there. ''Dawn come on! You can make out later!'' was all she said as she pulled me harder, so damn hard I felt like it would bruise. She pulled me in the house and up to a bedroom. ''Okay, seriously Sam what's happening? You're scaring me.'' Sam just giggled and laid down on the king-sized bed. ''Okay, I know you and Dan just had a moment but guess who has a thing for you!'' She is seriously going to ruin my plans with Dan for a little gossip? ''I don't know...'' She sat up and laughed so hard, it looked like she would pass out, or pee her pants. ''You know Professor Grey?''

Well of course I knew him, everyone in school has a thing for him, but that's all I know of. He doesn't teach my class. But rumors spread fast, and I've only seen him from behind a couple of times when me and Sam grabs lunch. But that's it. ''Yeah, what about him?''

Sam took a deep breath as she was shaking of the excitement she had managed to get. ''Well, Zacks' brother is a friend of his and, well. Apparently Grey had said he had a little thing for you!'' Omg, she did not take Zaks word for it. He is the biggest liar in town, and even if it was true, I highly doubt that his brother would say anything to him about such things. And Professor Grey is like 40 years old, no way that would ever going to happen.

''You are so full of shit Sam.'' I said as I walked out the room to find Dan. I walked down to the kitchen and found Zak and his new girlfriend Gina, she looked like she had done a couple of plastic surgeries and made money off of porn. But other than that, she was pretty okay, she didn't say much or get in your way, which was better than his ex.

I walked past them and looked outside, and there he was. Only that he was halfway ready to fuck some other girl who was here.
