I met up with Charles the next day for a beer while Dawn spent the day with her mom and brother, Charles had been busy being married and I was happy for him. I always knew he'd get married before me, and it was no surprise he did.
And apparently, he and Samantha had been busy with a lot of things these past months.

''Finally, some time with my best man!'' Charles shouted as he poured down his beer.

''Sick of being married already?'' Although Samantha can be a lot to handle, I didn't think Charles would back down now. They'd been together longer than I and Dawn, and only married a short time. ''Never! It's just exhausting with the renovation and fixing the nursery. You know, labor is hard man. Good thing I'm a professor in science, and not a builder.''

''Samanthas' pregnant?''

''No, no. Not yet, we're trying. Well, we figured that while we're at it we might as well fix a nursery.'' I took a big sip of my beer, feeling a little relived that there wasn't a child yet. ''But we really want one, and Sam is so disappointed every time her period starts again. I'm telling you. sex is not the same when you're trying for a baby.'' I laughed, ''we'll I can imagen, how long have you've been trying?'' by the look of him
I can tell that it's been longer than I expect. ''Almost 2 years. We've lost 3 so far. And
Sam is not feeling to well. We're both scared to death every time it's positive.'' 3 times in 2 years? That's 1,5 miscarriages a year. And I don't think Dawn knows of it, otherwise I would've known about it. ''I'm no expert in reproduction, but maybe you should get tested? Or start IVF treatments?''

''Yeah, we've talked about it, but Sam is determent to have it done naturally.''

''Anyways enough about me, how's it going with you? I heard you guys got another cat?'' Charles asked.

''Haha well yes, we did. I have this.'' I pulled out a box from my jacket and opened it, revealing a golden ring with a ruby in it. ''You're proposing? That's great news!'' I chuckled; it is great news. ''I am, I just want to do it right.''

''There is no right or wrong way to do it, she loves you man. You could do it at the cemetery and she'd say yes.''

''I'm not doing it at a cemetery, I have class.''

''I know, you do, I was trying to amplify that Dawn loves you. And that she'll say yes, no matter how you do it.''
His probably right, but this Is the love of my life we're talking about, I can't give her the bare minimum. She deserves the stars and the moon, and I'll give her anything she'd ever dream of.
