Chapter 1 Unlucky Educated Youth

It was the end of early May, and the villagers of Qinghe Village were busy transplanting the last batch of seedlings. They were sweating profusely. The old men and sons didn't care and went to the battle with their arms splayed out. The girls and aunts wore headscarves on their heads and kept wiping their faces with the towels that had long been soaked with sweat hanging around their necks.

Qinghe Village was the first production team under the first brigade of Hongshan Commune, also known as the Qinghe Production Team.

It was almost noon, and those who had not finished their responsibilities were working hard, trying to go home early and have a hot lunch. Those who had finished their responsibilities could finally take a break. Look, several aunts and aunts gathered together and set up a dragon gate formation.

There have been many interesting things happening in Qinghe Village recently. First, Jiang Xiuxiu, the daughter of the captain's family, originally liked He Yan, the educated youth, but later, after she had a fever and woke up, she actually liked Pei Xingzhi.

He Yan was of course unhappy, thinking that Pei Xingzhi had seduced Jiang Xiuxiu while he was home for a few days, so he fought with Pei Xingzhi.

It was a big fight, and even the captain and the village party secretary went to talk to the two of them. No one knew what they said, but the two of them were at peace for the time being.

But the fight was over, and Jiang Xiuxiu started to pester Pei Xingzhi all day long, and He Yan pestered Jiang Xiuxiu again. This big drama has almost become a topic of conversation at the dinner table of every household in Qinghe Village.

Until a few days ago, the village had a quota for a worker-peasant-soldier college student, and voting began. After the results came out, Pei Xingzhi had the most votes, and He Yan didn't even make the top three.

"But guess what happened in the end?"

"What happened in the end? Don't be fooled, tell me quickly."

The speaker was Aunt Liu, who was famous for being a "nosy" in the village. Her grandfather was the deputy captain of the production team. Although he had no real power, the village would still call him to attend meetings when recommending college students.

Look, his wife Aunt Liu knew the news just last night.

"Hey, how come the college student's spot was finally given to He Yan."

"What?"

"What's going on?"

"Why did it become He Zhiqing?"

"You're not talking nonsense again, are you? For such an important matter, even if it's not Pei Zhiqing who's ranked first, it's Pi Zhiqing who's ranked second, or Zhang Zhiqing. It can't be He Zhiqing's turn. He's not even in the top three."

Seeing so many people cheering, Aunt Liu happily opened her legs, sat on the edge of the field, and clapped her hands excitedly: "You hit the point. How did the candidate change from Pei Zhiqing to He Zhiqing?" At the end, Aunt Liu's voice became softer.

"Hey, Aunt Liu, please tell me quickly?"

"Yes, don't keep me in suspense. If you keep doing this, I'll go home. I've been hungry for the whole morning. Don't delay us from going home for dinner."

"Yes, Liu Juhua, if you keep doing this, we won't wait for you."

We are all from the same village. Everyone knows Aunt Liu's nature and deliberately says these things to provoke her.

"Hey, what's the hurry?" Aunt Liu looked around mysteriously and continued: "I'm only telling you guys, don't tell anyone else?"

"Don't worry, don't worry, we definitely won't tell anyone else."
